So I noticed the wikis appear to be going through some changes. Some of these like the new navigation bar and the random page button seem helpful and useful. But one in particular is being a bit of a problem.

The "Add New Page" button is gone. It seems to be replaced with a Contribute drop down menu. Normally I might be okay with this, though it is slightly less convenient (it will be harder for new members to find and harder to use for laggy people) but it is also causing me problems. Though I can locate the option I want on the drop down menu, it doesn't work when I click it. The only way I can add a new page now, is by right clicking the option I want and clicking "open in new tab." So now every time I add a page I have to go through more options and open a bunch of tabs, which slows down my computer and is generally annoying.

Is there a way to add the "add a new page" button back to my wiki? It was so convenient and I miss it.

You can add it to the toolbar at the bottom. If I'm not mistaken, "Add Page" is one of the default entries anyway. EDIT: No, it's not. But it's easy to add. --  pecoes  09:18, July 29, 2012 (UTC)

Easy to add? Great Scott that's awesome! .... So... how do I do it? (I'm a bit newb-ish at adding the layout of a website.) I tried messing with the toolbar but it only seems to help me with Theme Designer?

There's a "Customize" button on that menu. Click on it, find the "Create Page" entry and add it to the menu. --  pecoes  11:18, July 29, 2012 (UTC)
Ah. That helps. Thanks! Is there any way to add this back to the top of the website though instead of just my tools? (Some of these articles are long and scrolling all the way down is a bit of a pain. Also getting people to help add articles to the wiki is hard enough without having to have them edit their toolbar too.) Crystal6 (talk) 11:38, July 29, 2012 (UTC)
Adding or modifying buttons is prohibited by the ToU. It's allowed on a per-user basis, but not wiki-wide. Your only other option is to add a "Create Page" link to the menu at the top. -- pecoes  11:18, July 29, 2012 (UTC)
I keep trying to do that, but no matter what I set it to in the navigation bar ("Create Page|Create Page", "Add Page|Add Page", etc) it doesn't work. Suggestions? Crystal6 (talk) 12:00, July 29, 2012 (UTC)
"Special:CreatePage|Add Page" should do it. --  pecoes  12:08, July 29, 2012 (UTC)
Ooh that worked. Except, now the options Standard page vs Blank Page are gone. Is there a way to get that back? (Like "Create Standard Page|Standards Page"? or something?) Sorry to keep pestering, just trying to figure out all my options.
You probably turned that off in your preferences. It's "Use a blank page as default for creating a new page", I think. --  pecoes  12:48, July 29, 2012 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Hm. The "Use a blank page as default for creating a new page" box is already unchecked, yet clicking this newly added button still sets Blank as the default. Ideas? I pretty much never use Blank page as my option unless I'm making a redirect page. Crystal6 (talk) 09:38, July 30, 2012 (UTC)

You're correct. What I told you was wrong. This doesn't seem to have anything to do with the preferences at all. What wiki are we talking about? --  pecoes  13:06, July 30, 2012 (UTC)
The Graal Zodiac wiki. Crystal6 (talk) 13:21, July 30, 2012 (UTC)
Odd. I do see the "Create Page" dialog when I go to w:c:graalzodiac:Special:CreatePage. But you don't? --  pecoes  16:03, July 30, 2012 (UTC)

No. Then I click the button I immediately get brought to a blank page and asked to add in a title. Crystal6 (talk) 21:44, July 31, 2012 (UTC)
That's the dialog I meant. What did you expect in its place? The options for pre-populated pages? You might want to take a look at this thread then. --  pecoes  21:54, July 31, 2012 (UTC)
No see, my problem isn't the dialogue. It's the formating. I want it to give me a Standard Layout page instead of a Blank Layout page. (the one with a blank picture slot and a "put text here" thing instead of just a completely blank starter article.) Crystal6 (talk) 08:32, August 1, 2012 (UTC)
Did you take a look at the discussion I linked to above? You'll find a listing of all the files you'll need to edit/create to add a default layout. --  pecoes  08:41, August 01, 2012 (UTC)
I did but I don't think I understood how to use them. Crystal6 (talk) 09:02, August 1, 2012 (UTC)
