Hello. I know this is somehow possible. If someone could please tell me the CSS to add a background image to the Wikia page, that would be great. I cannot get it using Firebug, so there is obviously something I am doing wrong. Thanks, DaRanger (Talk ~ Contribs) 21:21 ~ 10/25/2011
- Unfortunately, ever since Wikia changed their layout to allow transparent page backgrounds with the theme designer and added the "WikiaAdvertPage" section, changing the background with CSS became slightly more complicated. Here is an example code to add a transparent page background:
/* The page background for the page and the advert section at the top */ .WikiaAdvertPage, .WikiaPage{ background:url("http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20100710021933/bioshock/images/b/b4/80opacitynavy.png") repeat scroll 0 0 transparent; } /* Make the redundant background div behind the page transparent */ .WikiaAdvertPage .WikiaPageBackground, .WikiaPage .WikiaPageBackground{ background: none repeat scroll 0 0 transparent; }
- By the way, you may receive better help if you give us a link to the wiki where you want this to work. --Gardimuer { ʈalk } 06:47, October 26, 2011 (UTC)
- You could just use
.WikiaPageBackground {background-image:url("url here");}
, couldn't you? It does the job on some of the wikis I edit. — Sovq 07:21, October 26, 2011 (UTC)

- Sovq, applying the background to .WikiaPageBackground causes overlap issues with some elements in the actual page that extend a pixel or so over the edge. It is most noticeable on the Admin Dashboard and on pages such as user pages or blog pages which have a gradient extending to the edge. --Gardimuer { ʈalk } 01:45, October 27, 2011 (UTC)
