On Trackers Interface Wiki, {{{sub:title}}}

When I tried to reopen it, it says "An error occured while connecting to the server or loading project information from it. - I'm not sure you understand. AutoWikiBrowser is a program that can be installed on Windows to make repeated edits. I tried reopening it on different computers, and it still showed the second error message. I have also tried re-installing the program, to no avail. Thanks, Iggyvolz 01:02, February 4, 2012 (UTC)
- Do you have anti-virus? If so, please stop the firewall for now, or make an exception. Also, that long, long, long, long, long, etc. string of words goes to wikipedia:Wikipedia_talk:AutoWikiBrowser/Bugs. --..Jeff (Talk!) (Contribs!) (Email!) (Blog!).. 17:27, February 4, 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, it told me to post it on Wikipedia Talk:AutoWikiBrowser/Bugs with the heading ApiXmlException in ApiEdit.CheckForErrors, but I'm blocked from Wikipedia forever (long story, not my fault). I don't have admin rights on my computer (not really mine, I just use it), so I can't stop the firewall. It works on other wikis, and it used to work on Trackers Interface Wiki, but it just stopped randomly. Iggyvolz 23:20, February 4, 2012 (UTC)

- because my MediaWiki software was not updated. How do I update that? Iggyvolz 17:07, February 9, 2012 (UTC)
- You can't, only Wikia can update the MediaWiki software. Wikia hasn't been keeping up with Wikipedia and is now about 2 versions behind (Wikia is recently at 1.16 and Wikipedia is at 1.18). I would use Special:Contact/general and ask Wikia to help you find an old version of AWB that works with Wikia wikis. Good luck. -- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 13 Feb 2012 1:00 PM Pacific
- Actually, as of 1 hour from now, they will be 3 versions behind. I've tried a bunch of versions of AWB, none work (either they only support Wikipedia or they say my wiki doesn't exist). He says that this should be almost identical to this. Hopefully, when they update the MediaWiki over the course of this month, they'll catch Wikia. (Countdown to February 24 at 3:00 AM GMT, when MediaWiki updates on most wikis, hopefully including Wikia) Iggyvolz 22:03, February 13, 2012 (UTC)
- Doubtful. Especially if you don't contact Wikia. Adding

Can I update my MediaWiki Software? Iggyvolz, Feb 13 09:25 pm (UTC): On Community Central Admin Forum:AutoWikiBrowser not working on my wiki only... did I do something wrong?, I was told that the reason that AutoWikiBrowser was not working on my wiki was because it was not updated. I was also told that I can't update my software, only staff can. When is a software update coming out? Thanks, iggyvolz
Response:
[Wikia Support] Re: Wikia Support - Can I update my MediaWiki Software? Tim Quievryn, Feb 14 04:13 pm (UTC): Hello iggyvolz, Thanks for contacting Wikia. To be honest, you were told incorrectly in that you can not update your AWB Software. AWB is completely controlled by the client end, so I would recommend downloading the newest version of AWB and seeing if that corrects your issue. You can learn more about AWB on Wikia by visiting this page: http://community.wikia.com/index.php?title=Community_Central:AWB ---- Timothy Quievryn Wikia Community Support Team
My response back:
I do have the latest AWB. I just need to update my MediaWiki software on my wiki.
I guess I wasn't clear enough that my MediaWiki software needs updating, not AWB. MediaWiki version 1.19 has been distributed to a Wikipedia test site and it seems to be working properly. It may be delivered to Wikia on the 23rd. I'll keep you posted! Iggyvolz 00:40, February 15, 2012 (UTC) Just in:
Tim Quievryn, Feb 15 12:46 am (UTC): Ah, I see now the issue in that re-wording. Wikia does not plan to upgrade our MediaWiki software until the early second quarter of 2012, so probably sometime in April. I'm quite confident that AWB is working fine for a number of users on Wikia, you may want to ask the forums (forums.wikia.com) what these users are doing to make their bots work properly. ---- Timothy Quievryn Wikia Community Support Team

- Ugh. forums.wikia.com just points to the Community Central forums, so that is kind of strange advice. You might as well put a shout out on the forums (General Discussion, I guess) and see if anyone has AWB working recently. -- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 15 Feb 2012 1:51 PM Pacific
- I still haven't heard anyone else write in reporting that AWB is not working for them anymore. I'm pretty sure if this was a widespread issue, I would have heard more. That said, the MediaWiki upgrade is indeed happening in the timeframe I gave - mid-to-late April - so we will be able to reassess this issue in the light of being on 1.19 soon. --daNASCAT

- Iggyvolz says that AWB is now working, so it wasn't a MediaWiki version issue. -- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 28 Mar 2012 3:45 PM Pacific
