Is there any way an administrator can hide an offensive edit summary made by a vandal on their wiki? I created the Taylor Swift wiki, which got featured recently, and thus brought in a lot of vandals. I undo their edits and ban them, but in one case, one had an edit summary which can still be seen in the edit history. [1] I'd rather that not be there at all. Also, can I keep any edit from being viewed at all ever? I'd like to remove things like this one [2] from history entirely, among other vandalism I recently had to deal with there. The Wikipedia has this ability, and the wikia staff I know have this ability, so why not let administrators have it? Dream Focus 16:06, December 7, 2011 (UTC)

Yes, there is tool called RevisionDelete for this. Unfortunately, on Wikia it is limited to Staff and VSTF use. However, if your wiki is large enough and has enough of a problem with vandalism, you can request the feature for local use at Special:Contact.  Monchoman45  Talk  Contribs  Skystone  16:22,12/7/2011
Alternatively, you can simply delete the page where the edit summary was made. Then restore the page with all revisions except for the bad one.--GodPray  16:50,12/7/2011
Transparency in these cases is good becuase then other users can see why someone was banned along with a history of what they have done. I know it's less than awesome to see these kind of remarks but they will only show in history and recent changes and not on the main pages or on Google searches. As more edits are added they'll get pushed down and forgotten about. RevisionDelete is something we only use to hide personal information (phone numbers, address, etc) and legal info that should not be on a wiki. --Meighan WikiaStaff.png (help forum | blog) 20:09, December 7, 2011 (UTC)
The delete and restore trick worked fine for that page. I just wish there was an easier way to do it, to just select specifically which ones to delete without having to go through that process. Also, transparency could be done by showing a line through the person's edit in the history, showing the person was banned, and their edit summary and edit hidden from history.
