If possible, I'd like "mywikiname.wikia.com" to go to my main page "mywikiname.wikia.com/wiki/My_Site_Name", by default. I mean, pretty much any website on the internet (other than wikis) will do that automatically. However, unless any links I make to my wiki (from some other site) specifically include "/wiki/My_Site_Name", it goes to my Wiki Activity page, by default. Which makes no sense to me. It's not a big deal when making links people can just click on, but if I want to tell people the URL (you know, in real life) and have them end up on my main page, I don't want to have to say "mywikiname.wikia.com/wiki/My_Site_Name, with the site name having all capital initials and underscores between each word." It's rather inconvenient. So... is there a way to change my wiki's default page to the main page? I've been looking through the admin tools on my wiki, and I can't find anything that seems to me like it'd do that. Teknomage 15:45, November 20, 2011 (UTC)
- Go to Special:Preferences > Misc > My Home section and tick "Disable my redirect to Wiki Activity". — Sovq 15:49, November 20, 2011 (UTC)
Wow, that was easy. Thanks. Teknomage 16:12, November 20, 2011 (UTC)
- It's because in your preferences you had it set to automatically redirect you to the Wiki Activity page, while most people who would be following the link wouldn't be logged in so they would have gone to the Main Page automatically. 16:13, November 20, 2011 (UTC)
It's because I didn't have it set not to go the Wiki Activity page, which I think is odd. My feeling is if I want it to go anywhere other than the main page, I should have to specify that, not the other way around. But whatever, it's fixed now. Teknomage 17:30, November 20, 2011 (UTC)
