The problem

The community central wikia is bouncing me out immediately with the message, "You have connected from another browser. This connection will be closed." I'm not logged in from another system, other browser or window. (I even rebooted to make sure there wasn't a window that didn't close cleanly.) Any suggestions? Help? -- CocoaZen 02:09, October 22, 2011 (UTC)

Known issue though Wikia has claimed they are unable to reproduce the problem on their own. They say they need detailed reports of what is happening.--GodPray  02:11,10/22/2011

Tried again - no luck

Rebooted again. And it still thinks I'm in the chat. Although I haven't even attempted to get back in since the reboot. -- CocoaZen 02:22, October 22, 2011 (UTC)
It doesn't think you're still in the chat, it simply has a really, really bad error system. The technical explanation for the problem is that chat works by sending and receiving messages to and from the server with a websocket. Somewhere in the vast, overcomplex code for chat, that socket (or at least part of it) is replaced with the boolean value false. Which is, quite frankly, hilariously stupid.  Monchoman45  Talk  Contribs  Skystone  02:31,10/22/2011
I sort of follow that... decades ago I actually wrote a chat client as part of a comp sci networking class. Unfortunately, it didn't work all that well either. (But it did let me stay in the chat.) It looks like someone reset the chat here. I can get in, but no one else is there! LOL -- CocoaZen 02:57, October 22, 2011 (UTC)
Unless your username and avatar shows up in the top-right corner, you're not really in. —Airhogs777 WCB WS 03:56, October 22, 2011 (UTC)

I know it hurts to see cookies go byebye, and daddy's suitcase, but give it a try... --..Jeff (Talk!) (Contribs!) (Email!) (Blog!).. 21:51, October 23, 2011 (UTC)
