I know it's not a very big deal, but on Dumbledore's Army Role-Play Wiki there are all these letter categories in my "following" and no matter how many times I remove them, they always come back. It's really annoying. Can someone please fix it? Rabbit (talk) 00:18, December 12, 2012 (UTC)
- So, just to clarify, you do want to retain the ability to follow some pages, just not these particular category pages? If so, this isn't really something someone else fixes. It's something you fix in your Special:Preferences. My guess is that these category pages are coming back because you're editing the pages, and you've got the "follow pages I edit" button checked. So you delete the page, then edit it, and the page is once again followed. In order to stop the cycle, you've got to deselect auto-follow for edited pages. If this doesn't resolve your issues, please post again.
- Indeed, it looks like w:c:dumbledoresarmyroleplay:category:Name begins with "Z" was edited by you on 5 December, so that's probably why it "came back" to your "following" list.
I have noticed that for some reason, in the little "pages I'm following" module on the right of people's userpages I see that category pages dominate it for some reason. For example, on Wiki 24 everyone's "pages I'm following" module has 6 items, the top 5 are all category pages and the bottom one is a mainspace article. I have no idea why such prominence is given to category pages out of all the pages one follows, but it is an interesting point to bring up Rabbitty, and something that I think could be fixed. I reported it to Wikia staff some time ago, but to be honest I doubt they've kept track of my report, so you could always report it again--Category:Acer4666 02:55, December 18, 2012 (UTC)
