- Yeah, no idea what you're talking about, since the talk page edit button does have a drop down that is largely similar to the edit button. At least on my wiki. (Check out, for example, tardis:Talk:TARDIS. The only real difference between the two buttons is that the default condition of clicking the button on a talk page is to add a new topic. On a namespace:0 (regular) page, it opens up the entire document for editing. But since that "edit" ability is an option in the talk page drop down, you haven't actually lost anything on the talk page.
- If you're trying to make it so that the default condition of clicking the button on the talk page is to edit the whole page, that may well be a TOU violation. This would make a core function on the wiki behave in a way that's different to the rest of wikia, and Staff might frown on that.
- However, to answer your question generally, it's possible to made a dropdown out of any button which doesn't already have a dropdown. As long as you've got an object you can
