How do I black out my Wiki to protest against SOPA and PIPA? I really want to raise awareness of this before it is too late! Sam (Talk) 18:35, January 18, 2012 (UTC)

Wikia has asked that only people who know js do this as the code to black out your site can cause many problems such as blanking your site when the day is over.--GodPray  18:37,1/18/2012
But you can back up the code and then put it back when the blackout is over, or not? Sam (Talk) 18:43, January 18, 2012 (UTC)
There is serious potential to do damage to your wiki if you do not know what you are doing here. If you don't know JS, wikia does not want you to do a blackout as you could screw up your wiki very badly if you do not do it right.--GodPray  18:45,1/18/2012
I know, but why can't you just back up the existing code and then put it back when it's done? I am aware of the damage I could do to the Wiki, but, with what I am suggesting, how could putting it back afterwards do any damage? Sam (Talk) 18:52, January 18, 2012 (UTC)
Hey Sam, we had a couple instances yesterday that went so wrong, we had to have our engineers dedicate time to investigating and fixing the mess. Using custom .js on your wiki isn't always as straightforward as it seems. Jen Burton (help forum | blog) 19:19, January 18, 2012 (UTC)
