What is the Admin Mentor Program?
Edit
The AMP is a group of experienced administrators available to help you and your wiki by teaching and sharing their knowledge.
What can AMP help me with?
Edit
So much stuff! It really depends on what you are looking to learn and what your wiki needs. But some of the main things AMP focuses on are:
- Main page build out
- Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
- Templates, infoboxes, etc.
- Uploading files/images
- Educate on the best use of features/tools
- Where to find help across Wikia
- How to build and grow a community
- Help to create policies/procedures/guidelines and thereby avoid conflict
Can I get help from AMP?
Edit
We have a set of guidelines that you should meet before you request help. You can see those here.
Will I definitely get help from AMP?
Edit
Although we hope to help as many wikis as we can, we can't promise that we'll be able to help every wiki that applies. Please see our guidelines to make sure you meet our requested requirements.
What does AMP need from me
Edit
We'll need to know a few things. To start, we need to know what you want to learn and improve on, what wiki you are from, and where we should leave you a message (specific talk page).
Will AMP edit my wiki for me?
Edit
AMP won't help you edit your wiki. But, they can coach you on how to attract more editors and what steps you can take to meet other editors.
If you are looking for more editors, you can post your wiki on the “Wikis that need editors” page.
Will AMP build my front page for me?
Edit
Nope! But, we'll show you how to do it yourself! If you have a good idea about what you want your front page to look like, AMP can help teach you how to make that happen.
How long will AMP help me?
Edit
Depending on your needs, AMP will hang out with you for anywhere from a few days, to a few weeks. Each situation will differ, so there are no set time frames.
How will AMP get in touch with me?
Edit
Initially we'll correspond through talkpages. Then, we'll chat using your wiki's chatroom, Skype, and/or IRC.
Can you get my wiki a spotlight?
Edit
We cannot get you a spotlight, but we can help you get your wiki ready to present to the Community Development Team (formerly, Content Team).
If you think your wiki is ready for a spotlight right now, you can request one here.
Can AMP help me with trolls and vandalism?
Edit
We can give you support on what to do and how to do it if and when trolling, vandalism, and/or spam happens on your wiki. We'll help you develop policies and procedures for dealing with disruptive editors that suit your unique community. And, we'll show you certain tools to use to implement these policies.
Finally, should the trolling, vandalism, and/or spam become excessive, we'll direct you to further support within the Wikia community.
Can AMP globally ban someone for me?
Edit
AMP cannot globally ban — nor even locally block — someone for you on your wiki. But, as above, we can show you how to block and where to get help when you need a global ban.
Can I join AMP?
Edit
Right now, we're full up on team members. But, as we grow, helping ever more wikis here at Wikia, we'll need more members and helpers. So, let us know if you're interested in helping!
