Any other information:
I'm really just looking to become an admin. Not really to adopt. We don't have an active bureaucrat, and our two active admins are great, but they're not on the wiki very often. Mostly, they just show up if we contact them about vandalism or spam, and that can take a few days, so we are left waiting which gives vandals an opportunity to cause more trouble. I have been very active on the wiki, I'm there everyday, and others will come to me with questions. I try to be helpful. I'm familiar with the guide of style and community guidelines and will usually be the first person to politely speak with any users who violate them in a friendly manner.
I spoke with one of the admins about this a while ago, and we agreed that it would be good if I became an admin while still leaving the ultimate authority to our two senior admins, but nothing ever came of this, so I'm asking here now.
- Unofficial response: (Please wait for an official response by a staff member)The only bureaucrat is inactive on the Wiki. Since there are two other admins who edited in April, the Wiki is not eligible for adoption, without those two admins giving their support to whoever is to adopt the Wiki. Even if those admins only come to revert spam/vandal, the last edit date is all that matters when filing adoptions. Staff can't come in here and give you right just because you are more active than the admins. I'm going to wait until someone else's comments here, because I don't know if you can ask the community about your adoption, or if you need support from the admins. - EDIT: Adoption is for the purpose of... adopting and gaining bureaucrat rights. It's not used to assign admins. Admins are assigned by other local admins if they are active. And if they are not, you will be looking to adopt the Wiki for the whole taco. If you can bring up your adoption to the remaining active admins, that will help you out. But for vandal and such, you can go to the VSTF Wiki to report, and they'll respond fast and efficient. Ripto (talk) 21:55, May 6, 2015 (UTC)
Ripto (talk) 22:15, May 6, 2015 (UTC)Unofficial response: (Please wait for an official response by a staff member)Admins can assign other admins/sysops. The only thing for a bureaucrat is to make other bureaucrats. Bureaucrats can also make admins. But, admin making is not limited to bureaucrats. An admin cannot make another user, or himself a bureaucrat, but they can make other users admins. A bureaucrat, can make other bureaucrats, and other admins. The Help:User access levels may help more if you need it!
- Unofficial response: (Please wait for an official response by a staff member)Indeed you are right. I confused a sysop on a Wiki making me an admin for a chat moderator. Apologizes for that. In that case, you do need permission from the remaining admins to support your adoption to gain bureaucrat rights. Adoption is for bureaucrat rights, not admin rights. - Hello. You can request just admin rights through adoption if you wish, and it is possible to adopt a wikia that has semi-active admins who cannot promote you themselves, as long as they are fully informed about the process. In this case there is an active community in addition to the two admins. Please start a blog or forum about gaining rights (please make sure you state exactly which ones you want) and then leave messages on the two admins walls explaining that you are requesting adoption and asking for their support with a link to the blog/forum. Leave everything up for a week and then remind me on my wall to check back again. -- Wendy (talk) 04:39, May 15, 2015 (UTC)
