Is there a way to make the navigation bar "tablet friendly" as they can't hover over thing (like a PC mouse), making it impossible to open drop down menus without clicking links.

You can enable mobile view on your tablet, which has a drop down menu for the NavBar?
I suppose that works, but it sacrifices full page visuals and talk page functionality.
Yes it does, but it fixes the linking part. Funny you ask that question, as just the other day I was having trouble logging out on mobile, because I kept clicking on my profile over and over lol.
If you have a stylus, that would work better than your finger too (through self experience) on desktop view on your tablet.
An ugly workaround I found out for this problem on: Keep the link clicked until the options pop up. You can then use your device's back button to navigate back to the page. Since the link has technically been clicked once, all hover and click events on it will be fired.
You can give feedback at Special:Contact/feedback.
On some tablets, you can use the navbar if you're quick and manage to touch the next button before the page starts to reload, which usually works for level two options which you know the position of and level three headings if you're very quick. But it probably also depends on your tablet.

Yeah that's pretty much what I do. I found it easier to use a stylus too.
