— Description, Sonic the Hedgehog Triple Trouble[1]

Meta Junglira Zone (メタジャングリラ・ゾーン[1] Meta Jangurira Zōn?) is the third Zone in Sonic the Hedgehog Triple Trouble. As with other stages in this game, Meta Junglira consists of two standard acts followed by a shorter, third act which contains the zone's boss.

Overview[]

Meta Junglira is a billion-year-old jungle unexplored by man, described as a "lost world" of giant plants and bottomless swamps.[1] The bottom of the level is filled with viscous, muddy water, and above them are basket-like plants. Bouncy fruits also hang from the trees.

Story[]

Sonic and Tails arrive in Meta Junglira Zone after Spin Dashing off of a train in Sunset Park Zone in continuation of their pursuit for Dr. Robotnik. They find the Wood Buttarundorf and defeat it.

Knuckles' trap, from Sonic the Hedgehog Triple Trouble.

Following the defeat of the Wood Buttarundorf, Sonic and Tails, once again, encounter Knuckles. They calmly greet the echidna, but Knuckles (still believing that Sonic and Tails want the Chaos Emeralds for their own reason) laughs at them and jumps on a switch in a safe area and continues laughing as explosions underneath Sonic and Tails go off and creates a fire tower, which sends Sonic and Tails flying to Robotnik Winter Zone.

Gameplay[]

Strange basket-like plants above the mud pools can launch the playable characters skywards into a thick canopy of wooden passageways. The bouncy fruits in the trees can also rebound the playable character straight back down to where they came from. Also, Springs both visible and hidden bounce Sonic or Tails into mazes of strange glass balls that bounce them around.

Wood Butarundorf, from Sonic the Hedgehog Triple Trouble.

Wood Buttarundorf is in practice some sort of jauntily-colored robotic tree snake, with a segmented body reminiscent of Gigalopolis Zone's boss mecha in Sonic Chaos. The automaton swings back and forth from the canopy, putting up very little resistance to the player's spin attacks. In fact, Sonic is more likely to die in the aftermath of the fight; once destroyed, burning pieces of the snake's body rain down from the trees, requiring quite nimble dodging.

Chaos Emerald locations[]

The Chaos Emerald monitors in Meta Junglira Zone can be found in the following locations

  • Act 1: Near the Act's start, drop to a moving platform above a brown pool. A tunnel to the left leads to the Chaos Emerald monitor.
  • Act 2: Atop the second downward loop two thirds into the Act. If playing as Tails, the player can fly to this Chaos Emerald monitor. If playing as Sonic, use the Pogo Spring near the Act's end to jump across some narrow platforms to reach a crumbling ledge and a tunnel leading to the Chaos Emerald monitor.
