James Ransone, born June 2, 1979 in Baltimore, Maryland, USA, is an actor. He guest stars as Ziggy Sobotka in the second season.

Prior to appearing in The Wire Ransone had a recurring guest role in Third Watch as a police informant named Frankie.

He also worked with The Wire co-creator on his subsequent series Generation Kill and Treme. Ransone starred in Generation Kill as motormouthed recon marine Corporal Josh Ray Person in 2008. In Treme Ransone had a recurring role as Nick, a chef and sometimes roommate of main character Janette Desautel. He appeared in the second and third seasons of Treme, which aired in 2011 and 2012 resoectively.

He appeared in the HBO series How To Make It In America as Tim, a New York based entrepreneur.

He reunited with The Wire and Treme writer/producer Eric Overmyer on his Amazon series Bosch. Ransone played corrupt cop Eddie Arceneaux in the second series in 2015.
