Wikicities celebrated its first birthday on November 2, 2005. This was one year after the first real Wikicity was launched; Answers, a project where any user can ask a question or help to answer one.

In the last year, over 600 wikis have been created in over 30 languages. 9200 users have registered and 1300 of those made at least five edits in October.

We've gained an Alexa rank of around 30,000 (which doesn't take into account the traffic of the sister projects of Wikicities; Memory Alpha and Uncyclopedia). According to stats from the Google ads, we had almost 10 million page impressions last month (up from 2.7 million six months ago).

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to Wikicities over the last year, and thanks especially to all the founders and to the 160 active users who made 100 edits last month.

Adopt a wiki weekEdit

Although we've got a growing number of active communities, we also have a growing number of neglected wikis. To celebrate the first birthday, this week is declared adopt a wiki week. Perhaps you can help to bring an abandoned wiki back to life with new content and a new community!
