Nintendo Wiki Edit

Hello! I'm an admin at the Nintendo Wiki. We have developed a comprehensive Nintendo database that features over 6,500 articles. There are several active members who update the site on a regular basis, but I feel like there's a lot of potential for the site to become much bigger. We have an organized category structure and a majority of our pages are above 300 bytes. The Nintendo 3DS portable game system will release in English-speaking territories in March of 2011 and the users of the Nitnendo Wiki, myself included, plan to make an enormous database for the handheld on the site that will provide users with all the information they could ever want, and a spotlight would really benefit us.

Hi. Nintendo Wiki looks great and actually does meet all of the spotlight criteria except for the stub issue. While you have less than 700 pages under 300 bytes, you have thousands of pages in your stub categories -- so more than 1/5th of your articles are labeled as stubs. For a spotlight you would need to spend some time sorting out which pages really are stubs and get the total number (in all the stub categories combined) down to around 1400 pages or preferably much less. Medal of Honor wiki Edit

Hi there. I'd like to request a spotlight for the Medal of Honor wiki. Over there, myself, YuriKaslov (i think that's the way to spell his name) and a few other users have been working hard to prepare for the release of the new Medal of Honor game, and (not to blow our own trumpet here) i belive that our work has transformed the wiki into a fully functional database on much of the Medal of Honor series. We currently have 469 articles, of which most are above stub length. Most of our pages are categorized in some way, and we have had little need to change stuff on the wiki, and very little in the way of vandalism and trolling. Hi. Medal of Honor wiki looks really great. There are a few tweaks it needs to meet the spotlight criteria. There are about 20 uncategorized pages. Also the content is a little weak at the moment; you have about 170/500 articles that are stub length (less than 300 bytes). It needs to be closer to 100/500 for the spotlight. WikIkariam Edit

Hello, I am an admin of the Ikariam Wiki (WikIkariam) and I would like to submit it as an upcoming Wikia Spotlight. We currently have 433 pages (of which almost none are stubs) and we hopefully fulfil all the criteria, except for the main page being semi-protected due to history of vandalism. Ikariam is one of the most popular browser games, with over 1.500.000 players worldwide, and our wiki offers lots of guides, tips and information around the game. Currently the wiki is completely ready for the transition to Oasis, with a fully-customized brand new theme and a custom wordmark. NCIS Wiki Edit

Hello Wikia Staff Member!

I am Anniemoose98, an active admin on the NCIS Wiki, I am here to request a Spotlight.

On to the requirements...

  • The requestor should be either the admin, or link to a discussion with the admin of the wiki and agreeing to the spotlight. - Yes, I am an Admin
  • The wiki should have at least 200 content pages, not counting stubs. Stub articles should make up no more than 1/5th of all pages on the wiki. - 2,058 pages, to be exact. We try to delete all unneeded stubs
  • The main page of the wiki should have at least one picture, and clear links to the most important content. It should also be unprotected unless there is a strong history of vandalism. - 16 images on the main page.
  • The wiki should have a clear category structure to help readers navigate around the site. Every content page should be in a category. - We shouldn't have any uncategorized, if we do, they will be fixed before the spotlight goes up. We have links to every page.
  • The wiki should not be in the middle of choosing new admins, or any other upheavals; it should be a stable, friendly place. -We are very calm and peaceful
  • The wiki should be using the Wikia welcome tool, signed by admins -- (MediaWiki:Welcome-user should say @latest, @sysop or the name of an admin.) -I got welcomed with it myself.

The wiki should not use offensive language or include inappropriate images. - We are a clean wiki

In looking at the wiki for the request, it appears that you were made an admin only to help with the skin and have not been active in about a month. The wiki is in good shape, with the exception of a few uncategorized pages; if those are taken care of I will be happy to approve it for a spotlight. However I would need to know that User:NJZimmerman or another of the active admins are ok with this as well. HTML & CSS Wiki Attempt #2 Edit

Hi, I'm back for another go at the spotlights. I've been working hard since the last time I made a request and I hope this time I've reached or almost reached the requirements to get my wiki on a spotlight. There's only around 3 active editors right now, so it's pretty tough managing multiple tasks without bots. The wiki has grown by 100+ pages since last time. Anyways, please take a look! Duel Masters WikiEdit

Where do they appear anyway?
The spotlights appear in the three slots at the bottom of each page on wikia. They will appear on whatever hub the content team decides is likely to be interested in them. Tron Wiki Edit

Hi, I would like to submit the Tron Wiki to be considered to get an spotlight. We have recently finished the Oasis transition, so we're now ready for the change, with an awesome skin and wordmark. We have over 200 articles and we follow all of the best practices. Tron Legacy is probably one of the most anticipated films of 2010, and will probably be the highest grossing film of this year, so to honor that, an spotlight will be required, either for this month, or December (the month it will be released). One question, though. If this spotlight is accepted, will it appear in the new Oasis spotlight module? This pic could be used for the spotlight. Shrek wiki Edit

Hello, I have a delayed request. I was wondering if the Shrek wiki (aka. WikiShrek) could have a spotlight November 2011, when the Puss in Boots movie is coming out. We currently have 194 articles, many of which are stubs, but we'll work on it in the meantime. This isn't really important for the moment, but I like to start early with these things.

Hi. Congratulations on reaching 200 articles! That said, in order to be spotlighted, the wiki needs 200 non-stub articles. Usually I definie a stub as anything you have put a "stub" tag onto, and any article shorter than 300 bytes or so. Right now you have about 80 articles that are too short and another 17 in your stub category. Please continue to work on strengthening your content, and, although the timing won't be as optimal, feel free to ask again for a spotlight when you have 200 non-stubs. -- Wendy (talk)@fandom 01:21, November 3, 2010 (UTC)

The Boondocks Infomation Center Edit

Hello I would like The Boondocks Information Center to be on wikia's spotlights, the place has really improved since March 5th, 2010. The Boondocks has just now finished season 3 and not many editors are coming because not a lot know about but a few do, half come, half leave. www.boondocks.wikia.com was what I used to work on till vandalism people are trying to find a database for The Boondocks since the Official Site does not update. The wiki is exciting because of The monthly/weekly polls and i would like more editors to come. So please add it to The Spotlight. And would you use this image. Hi. The Boondocks Information Center looks really nice and congratulations on reaching 200 articles. It doesn't quite meet the spotlight criteria however. It needs to have 200 non-stub articles, which I usually define as articles longer than 300 bytes; right now about 50 of your articles are too short. Similarly you would need to make sure all of your articles are categorized; right now about 50 of them aren't. Wiksteria Lane (Desperate Housewives Wiki) Edit

Hi. I would like Wiksteria Lane to be in the spotlight sometime. It has been featured recently, but we saw no increase in editors or viewers. Season 7 is back on TV, and with the return of some very popular villains for the early seasons, its looking like a good season. Spore Create Wiki Edit

Dear the Team at wikia, Spore Create Wiki is a fictional site for the game "Spore". It is a project to organize the fictions made by players. It is small, but has a great community and has very few blocks. It is the only active Spore fanon wikia. It is doing well since it's founding July, 2010. Please put it on the spotlight for:

Uncharted Wiki Edit

Hello. I am an administrator at the Uncharted Wiki. I adopted it about a month ago and I am hoping to promote the Wiki so that we can get more contributors. We have a small number of fairly regular editors, but considering that the online multiplayer feature of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves receives over 45,000 players every day I feel that the Wiki being spotlighted will help the Wiki expand greatly. Also, the first anniversary of Uncharted 2 is coming up and a Game of the Year Edition is to be released in just over two weeks, and a spotlight now would coincide with these events. Please note that I have ensured that all pages on the Wiki are categorised. However the pages with galleries at the bottom of the article will not display the categories. Fable Wiki Edit

With just over a month before the release of Fable III, we would like to request a spotlight for the wiki. At the beginning of October, a book will be released to tie in with the release of Fable III as well as a limited edition Fable controller. As you can see from these, it is a highly anticipated game.

We still fit all the spotlight criteria since the last spotlight as well. It would be good to have it running through most of October and the beginning of November due to everything being released. That's all.

I know this is probably not the best place to ask but could you also put in a word to get it placed on the Xbox 360 Hub of Wikia due to the fact it is such a big anticipated game.

Marvel Database Wiki Edit

I would like to formally submit a request for a spotlight on the Marvel Database Wiki. We have over 65,000 pages and almost 75,000 images on the site and even tout our site as being the "Best source of Marvel Comics info on the 'net". However, due to the large number of other sites on the internet similar in nature to ours, we constantly struggle with trying to get a larger piece of the 'internet pie' and readers. When people wander onto the site, we are very welcoming and enjoy helping new editors in 'getting their feet wet'. Even though we do have a smaller team of regular contributors (though SEVERAL viewers), they all have made great contributions.

Now I understand that since we are a larger Wiki we naturally bow out and try to give new Wikis a boost. In this manner, we have come together as a group and helped bring in 'sister' Wikis (DC, Image and Dark Horse) to name a few. We gladly link to other Wikis (when possible) and feel like we are a great member in this Wiki family. --M1shawhan 22:46, September 15, 2010 (UTC)

Hi. Marvel Database is a great wiki, and meets almost all of the spotlight criteria. The one issue is that you have a fully (sysop-level) protected mainpage. For spotlights through this request page the edit protection would need to be dropped to protect only against anonymous and new accounts, or I would need to see the vandalism concern which warrants greater protection; right now I cannot see any real history of vandalism on that page. The British Wildlife Wiki Edit

I am an Admin for The British Wildlife Wiki (http://thewwcbritishwildlife.wikia.com/). We have had a lot of photo uploads recently and had a spotlight before but with a lack of content uploads other than myself and my family we need some more people to help make the wiki bigger and more successful. We have been established a nearly a year and in that time we have nearly created 1000 articles.

I would like to request a spotlight for the Goosebumps Wiki. I really need help, I cannot manage it myself. We have the occassional user, and one person is kind of helping me. It has 217 pages on it. Hi. Goosebumps Wiki looks great and has a fun skin, but it does not currently meet all of the spotlight criteria. It would need a link to New Files to the sidebar menu, and a customized Community Corner on My Home. Also you need to drop the main page protection to allow logged in users to edit it (middle protection level). Most of the content pages (140 of them) are uncategorized and would need to be sorted. Finally the wiki does not currently have 200 non-stub content pages; you have about 50 pages shorter than 300bytes and only 216 total pages. Hi. Club Penguin Shops Wiki looks great, and congrats on making so many articles already! The users you have are obviously working hard which is great to see. I see two criteria you would need to work on for a spotlight. The first is that your content is a bit weak; you should have no more than 1/5th of your articles as "stub" pages (which I'm defining as less than 300 bytes in length). Right now that number should be about 90 and you actually have about 120; you would need to expand some of these. The other is that people are being promoted and demoted from admin status pretty constantly. I would like to see about a month without promotions/demotions and other internal drama to convince me that this wiki meets the spotlight criteria for stability. Hi. Apple Wiki looks like it is generally in good shape. As you noted, there are some uncategorized pages to be sorted out (most of the ones I checked did not have categories). Also for the spotlight you would need to drop the main page protection to allow registered users to edit. HTML & CSS Wiki is where users can learn HTML and CSS by using the articles on all the elements and properties. They can also ask for help since the users on HTML & CSS Wiki know a good amount of code knowledge to be able to help them out. So far, I'm the only active editor; other editors are inactive. Hi. I think a wiki to learn html and css is a great idea. There are a few things you need to tweak before it can be spotlighted. The main page protection for editing would need to be dropped. Hello, I am an admin on LPW Wiki, which is the number one source for Lords of Pain Wrestling. Lords of Pain Wrestling is a professionally-operated e-federation that's featured on the Lords of Pain website. Regarded as one of the most competitive and popular e-federations on the world wide web, LPW spans handlers from five continents. Comprised of all original characters, LPW features two distinct brands known as Insanity and Pyromania. Each brand consists of approximately 25 active e-wrestlers, featuring their own championships, shows, and pay-per-view events.

The main page has several features: Featured eWrestlers, which are currently our 8 champions, Featured Event, Featured Championship, featured match from the history of LPW, News, new blogs, and, my personal favourite, the HDtron Jukebox, which has the customized enterance videos of our stars.

The Wiki has over 700 articles, and over 1,100 images! Finally, on behalf of the LPW Wiki staff, would like our Wiki which we have worked on sinec February 24, 2009. If we are accepted, would you be able to use this picture:

Mass Effect Wiki Edit

I'm one of the administrators for the Mass Effect Wiki, and after looking through the requirements for a Wiki Spotlight, I believe that the Mass Effect Wiki meets all of the requirements. While our main page is protected, but it had a strong history of vandalism before a member of the staff protected it with I believe the lowest form protection there is. There are, however, a few other issues before the wiki can be spotlighted. You have about 60 uncategorized pages that need to be sorted out. There are also 100 pages marked "stub", and nearly that many which are shorter than 300 bytes, which I consider a stub. By either measure this is about 1/3rd of your content. You need to have no more than about 60 stub articles. This includes articles either marked "stub" and/or shorter than 300 bytes in the Short Pages list combined. Also could you please add a link to new images in your sidebar menu. It needs to display properly on a 1024px wide screen, as this is still a very common screen resolution for wiki-users. Hi. Madagascar Wiki looks like a lot of fun, and I can see that you have worked hard on it. There are a few tweaks it needs to meet the spotlight criteria. Can you please drop the protection on the main page to allow autoconfirmed users to edit the page? I cannot see that there was any vandalism prior to it being protected. You also need a link to New Images in the sidebar menu itself, not just on the Main Page. Right now though you have too many stub pages; they should be no more than about 1/5th of your content (roughly 120 pages in your case) but you have nearly double that number. I'm defining a stub as less than about 300 bytes in the Short Pages list. Chrono Wiki Edit

I am the admin for the Chrono Series aka the Chrono Wiki. I have a decent about of active participation in the wiki, but I would love to promote it further if I get a chance to get featured in the spotlight. We currently hold a Crimson Echoes namespace which still need much work on as well as Chrono Cross section that featured many red links. Although Chrono Trigger has many articles in its name, we can always use more. We hold over 1200 articles pages and have gain 300 in less than three months. By getting the spotlight we can increase to over 2000 articles goal. We are a friendly bunch of people and we continuously moderate for vandalism and correcting/adding anything we see fit! I hope you'll consider our small active community in the spotlight.

Hi Zeypher. Chrono Wiki looks really nice, and it sounds like it is growing quickly! There are a few of the spotlight criteria which it does not currently meet. There are about 100 uncategorized pages; could you please sort them? Also, you would need to add a link to new images somewhere in your sidebar menu. The biggest problem right now though is stub content. You have nearly 700 pages, which is over half of your content, tagged into a stub category. You would need to trim this down to about 250 pages, or 1/5th of the content. We also have an online Bible and an ArtShare project (a project were users upload art, whether music, pictures, quotes, etc., and have them critiqued by the wiki community). Hi Master Fredcerique. Congratulations on the 1 year anniversary! I appreciate that you are continuing to work so hard on your wiki, and it is fine to keep asking for the spotlight. Your wiki still has too many stubs, as you guessed, to be spotlighted. There is nowhere that you can see the percentage directly, but if you look in Special:ShortPages, you will see a list of all your articles from the shortest to the longest, and their lengths in bytes. You have about 3500 articles, so you should have no more than 700 articles that are stubs, which I define as roughly less than 300 bytes. Right now you have many more than that. Love the wiki, and as a fan it pains me to tell you, that I doubt the Helper is going to approve your wiki due to the following: Out of 340 articles 93 are under 300 bytes, and 44 Uncategorized pages of which some appear to be content. Suggestions are to deal with all those date pages, I'd almost suggest coming up a way to put them together like either by Month or Year instead of by day. More importantly, a large portion of your content is currently a stub (roughly, less than 300 bytes as listed in Special:ShortPages) -- nearly 1/3rd of it. To be spotlighted you would need to decrease the number of short, stub articles down to about 130, or 1/5th of your total content. Ace Combat Wikia Edit

Hello, I'm an administrator at the Ace Combat Wikia/Acepedia, which covers all information of the legendary Ace Combat flight simulation series. The Wikia was in an absolture state of decay in 2009, being overrun with spam & fanfiction. I talked with a fellow admin in early January, and both of us were sysop'ed by the remaining admin. Ever since we've run a massive sweep in the Wikia, erasing fanfics & executing (READ AS: blocking for 5 years) all IPs/members involved. Our place has a lacking userbase, with new members being something akin to a miracle (note the hyperbole.) We've got over 750 pages, and we're trying to add all information possible to the site. This is not a helpful category structure for visitors, as intended by the spotlight criteria. Could you please work on adding more specific categories to your content pages? You have a few already (eg. Category:Ecology), but they are largely empty right now. Hello, I am Ben 100022. When I adopted this wiki over a year ago I was under the name Sonamy4000. And now I have helped this wiki. We have over 1,200 articles. 1,267 to be exact. We few editors believe we need this so we can get many users onto our wiki. We are combing through the old pages that were left to rot when RJ and the others quit in about 07 or 08. The wiki was founded in 2004! Meaning the wiki is almost 6 years old. In december our wiki will be celebrating and we hope to bring many more users with this spotlight request.
