Cats Of The Clans Wiki (approved)[]

Hello, I'm one of the active admins (Not the longest on there though) I have discussed it with admins and users on the IRC. All pages are neat and catergorized (I'm double checking though) and we have close to 2'000 pages

This wiki is for warror cat lovers, and Roleplaying lovers (Or both), and needs more users since most of our active ones left, or became inactive. I hope you'll accept the request. (Short, I was never good with words, or speeches) -- Birdpaw Don't get me confusedWith something i'm not 00:01, October 11, 2011 (UTC)

Hi. Cats of the Clans Wiki looks like it is generally in very good shape. There are a few uncategorized pages but not very many. However the main page is really hard to use; while you have links to a lot of stuff it is hard to figure out what is important, and there are very few graphics. Could you please spruce it up? Let me know on my talk page when you've had a chance to work on it, or if you need some help. -- Wendy (talk) 03:06, October 20, 2011 (UTC)
Great job revamping the page! I've added the wiki to the approved spotlight list. -- Wendy (talk) 19:27, February 12, 2012 (UTC)

Nick Plus Wiki[]

Ya, This is Tommypezmaster. I made a wiki of the furture of Nicktoons Network should be (wich is at http://nickplus.wikia.com/wiki/Nickplus_Wiki). I was really to invite people. I only got one user to sumit CatDog related page. The rest I got were rejections and one insult.

I want a Nicktoons Network without Tak and The Power of Juju. If anyone want to support my wiki by editing or sumitting a new page, that would be just the support I needed.

Hi. You don't appear to be actually asking for a spotlight here; you might want to make a blog for your wiki explaining what it is about instead. That said, if you do want a spotlight, the wiki does not yet meet our spotlight criteria, which includes having 200 non-stub content pages. Please feel free to ask for a spotlight when you can meet all the criteria. -- Wendy (talk) 03:09, October 20, 2011 (UTC)

League of Legends Wiki (approved)[]

Hi I want our wiki to have a spotlight. I am an administrator there and an image of League of Legends:Dominion or any of the champion skins would be good for a spotlight. Thanks. —Technology Wizard ·Contribs· ~Talk~ ·E-Mail·  02:57, 10/14/2011

Hi. League of Legends Wiki looks great -- congratulations on reaching 1000 articles. You do appear to have about 130 uncategorized pages. Could you please sort those out? Let me know on my talk page when you have finished and I will be happy to add League of Legends to the approved spotlight list. -- Wendy (talk) 03:19, October 20, 2011 (UTC)
I believe that all pages are now categorized. If possible, please use something from here, preferably this one. Thanks in advance! —Technology Wizard ·Contribs· ~Talk~ ·E-Mail·  01:52, 11/11/2011

Ratchet & Clank wiki (approved)[]

Hi, I'm Tigernose, an admin of the Ratchet & Clank wiki. We want to apply for Spotlight, parallel to the release of the latest game, All 4 One.

We have 4000 articles and a long history including a previous spotlight a few years ago, so we naturally meet the criteria, I believe.

We are hoping to get a boost in editing activity from this spotlight after a period of general inactivitiy a few months ago, but the content itself is hopefully as good as new.

Thank you, Tigernose (Talk) 17:56, October 20, 2011 (UTC)

Hi. I'm sorry for the delay in answering this request. Ratchet & Crank looks like it is in good shape and indeed meets all the spotlight criteria. I've added it to the approved spotlight list. -- Wendy (talk) 04:57, November 8, 2011 (UTC)

Crysis Wiki (approved)[]

Having been a bureaucrat on the Crysis Wiki after adopting it some time ago, I'd like to request a spotlight for it. We meet the qualifications and really could use all the extra attention we can secure. Shotrocket6 10:18, October 21, 2011 (UTC)

Hi. I apologize for the delay in answering your request. Crysis Wiki is in generally nice shape and just needs a few tweaks to meet the spotlight criteria. There are about 30 uncategorized pages that need to be sorted out, and you have a few too many stubs; basically you have about 90 pages marked as stubs, but 1/5th of your content would be 78 pages. You can either expand some of those stubs and/or remove tags from articles which are no longer stubs. Let me know on my talk page when you have taken care of these two issues and I will be happy to add the wiki to the approved spotlight list. -- Wendy (talk) 05:07, November 8, 2011 (UTC)
I've added you to the list! -- Wendy (talk) 03:42, December 16, 2011 (UTC)

Jurassic Park Wiki (approved)[]

One of the all-time franchises of all time, in Wiki-form. The Jurassic Park Wiki currently houses over 1,100 articles, and is fairly active. The contributors there have been working on it for a long time to keep it alive, seeing that Jurassic Park has ended, though Jurassic Park IV might be coming soon. I am an Admin on the Wiki, and believe me, it deserves a spotlight.

Hi. Jurassic Park Wiki is generally in really great shape and I can see why you are so proud of it. In order to meet the spotlight request criteria you would need to drop the editing protection on the main page to only block new and anonymous users. This was made to be the randomest wiki ever. It was made for people to go on and goof around so they have something to do other than homework. However, it needs some spotlight!! I have a link to the website here. -Brandon<3 14:34, October 24, 2011 (UTC)

Hi. Wiki of Stuff looks like it is a lot of fun and a great place to goof around. However in order to be spotlighted it would need to meet all of our spotlight criteria, including at least 200 non-stub content pages. Liverpool F.C. wiki (approved)[]

Sports wikis are generally poor on wikia, but this is well organised, has the required 200 articles, and very few stubs. The only problem is that we have a very small userbase (only three active editors at the best of times), so us being on spotlight would bring some much needed exposure, and perhaps catch the eye of more Liverpool fans. Sunderland06 (talk) 20:58, October 24, 2011 (UTC)

Spotlight question[]

Hello, I was told this is the place to request a spotlight. I was looking at the lists of requirements here, but I think I read somewhere the new requirements (since the introduction of the new skin) were somewhat different and I wanted to corroborate that.

The reason I ask is because, it says you need 200 full articles, although I am certain I have clicked in dozens of spotlights directing me to wikis with even less than 60 articles (example here are two with spotlights still active):

So my question is, have the requirements changed? My interested is for my wiki of Siouxsie Sioux that already has 50 full articles, and I'm wondering what else would I need to spotlight it. Thanks! --Liliana (my talk). 21:59, October 24, 2011 (UTC)

Hi Liliana. The spotlight criteria were already updated to reflect some of the features in the new skin, although the number of content pages was not affected. You do still need 200 non-stub pages as well as all of the other criteria listed to request a spotlight through this page.
The wikis you linked were not requested spotlights. Most of the spotlights you see are chosen by the content team to highlight wikis of their choosing; these do not have to meet the spotlight criteria.
The criteria here are a goal and a sort of "best practices" list for wikis which ask to be spotlighted. They serve as a way of making the requests process more equal; any wiki which meets the criteria can get a spotlight through this page. -- Wendy (talk) 05:40, November 8, 2011 (UTC)

Hi, I am Bullet Francisco, an active administrator of the Sonic News Network. The SNN would like to be a spotlight of Wikia, we want to attract new users to both edit and view our articles, we meet the requirements, as we are a very friendly place, and welcoming. We also have about 170 articles less than 300 bytes, and 789 articles out of 4748 articles marked as stubs, which is less than 1/5, and with the release of Sonic Generations coming soon (November 1s), we would like a spotlight. Thanks! -- Bullet Francisco My Talk[[Special:Contributions/Bullet Francisco|Special:Editcount/Bullet Francisco Edits ]]Email Me 01:09, October 31, 2011 (UTC)

Hi. Sonic News Network looks great -- you are so close to 5000 articles! Could you please drop the main page edit protection so it only blocks edits from new and anonymous users? Then I will be happy to add it to the approved spotlight list. -- Wendy (talk) 05:34, November 9, 2011 (UTC)
Hello, I am a Chat Moderator and Rollback of the Sonic News Network. The reason the protection settings on our main page is so high is due to the large amounts of vandalism that was done to our templates on the main page, and we need it protected since we have a lot of vandalism. Is dropping the protection really necessary to achieve spotlight for our wiki despite our high percentage of vandalism? If so, then we can definitely pull a few strings and just keep a close eye on the edits being made to the main page, though we prefer to keep the main page's format on a professional level. This could change if we let just anyone edit our main page.DarkFuture x21:40, November 11, 2011 (UTC)
Yes, of course it is ok. I had checked only the mainpage history and seen that the page had been protected for more than 2 years without realizing you were importing templates that might also have a history of vandalism. I've added the wiki to the approved spotlight list. -- Wendy (talk) 03:11, November 13, 2011 (UTC)

The Classic Car Wiki (approved)[]

Hello everyone! I am the Founder of The Classic Car Wiki. We are a new wiki that has been set up for classic car enthusiasts. Not all classics have to be from the 50's as a classic car is one which is 25 years old or older. This means a Car from 1986 is a classic (C-reg in the UK). We have 200+ pages but there has been a problem with the number of pages caching. That aside I have been adding mostly my own photos (other than manufacturers badges) and great progress has been made. I would love to thank my team for helping and we hope that we gain more members to our community. We have a strong category structure and all pages are categorised.

Hi. Congratulations on reaching 200 pages! There are a few more spotlight criteria that you would need to meet before being approved for a spotlight. Your main page needs to be spruced up; it should not have the "in progress" template right at the top, it needs an image, and I strongly recommend that you change the colors; grey on red is very hard to read. You would need to categorize all of your articles; right now about 125 of them are uncategorized. Given that it is such a high fraction of your total articles I am guessing that you may also need to work on expanding your category structure to keep everything organized. Finally, you would need to have 200 non-stub content pages. Right now you have about 92 "stubs", in the sense of pages shorter than 300bytes. Let me know on my talk page when you have had a chance to work on these issues and I will be happy to look again. -- Wendy (talk) 05:51, November 9, 2011 (UTC)
I've just gotten through categorizing what articles I could. There were some which couldn't be categorized. I don't know how many, but whatever their number, it's far below the maximum percentage. I also had to move a few pages out of mainspace which shouldn't have been there, causing their article count to dip below 200. There were a few times when I was trying to move a page out of mainspace and I hit a throttle, so there are still some which need to be moved. In any case I just got elected as an admin at Autopedia, so between that, Gran Turismo Wiki and all my other stuff I won't be able to help much further. --Gp75motorsports REV LIMITER GT-PT/GT-EN/CSW 00:20, November 10, 2011 (UTC)
Wow! Nice start on that -- there were a lot of things that needed touch up, and it was really nice of you to help them out. However, all of the pages do need to be categorized and a category structure which can encompass all pages (except possibly the main page) created. -- Wendy (talk) 03:39, November 11, 2011 (UTC)

Soccer Wiki[]

Hi! I'm Crazed Penguin, Admin at Soccer Wiki. I think we should have a spotlight. {{SUBST:User:Crazed Penguin/100Sig}} 22:02, November 1, 2011 (UTC)

You have 218 Uncategorized Pages you need to have all those pages categorized first, :Bob bricks Talk

Hi. Soccer Wiki looks like it is growing quickly. Unfortunately, nearly 2/3rds of the content pages appear to be very short, stub-length (less than 300 byte) pages; these would need to be expanded so that no more than about 60 (1/5th of the total content) are stub-length and/or marked as stubs. Unfortunately you no longer appear to be an admin at Soccer Wiki; however looking at the rights log it appears that the admin situation there is fairly unstable. In order to be spotlighted the wiki would need to be more stable. Please feel free to ask, or have one of the admins ask, again when the wiki can meet all of the spotlight criteria! -- Wendy (talk) 05:57, November 22, 2011 (UTC)

Ben 10 Fan Fiction (approved)[]

I would like to request a spotlight for Ben 10 Fan Fiction. The picture would be the one here (cropped and/or resized however needed) and the text would say "Make Your Own Ultimate Aliens". The wiki meets all of the criteria:

  • I'm an admin. Proof
  • There are over 9,000 pages.
  • The main page has (counts on fingers) four or five pictures right now, plus links to important things.
  • Most pages, not just content ones, are categorized. I often check and empty Special:UncategorizedPages.
  • No upheavals.
  • Of course we use the welcome tool!
  • Not quite the standard, but it links to important things, such as the forums, our answers site, and our newsletter.
  • Black and green, the Omnitrix colors. Plus, Monobook! (Credit for most of that goes to Jäzzi.)
  • No. Way. The Block List is full of people who tried to get away with that.

So, I hope the wiki's good enough. We have community agreement, too.

Gran Turismo Wiki (approved)[]

Hi, I'd like to request a spotlight for Gran Turismo Wiki.

Does it meet the rules?[]

The requestor should be either an active admin, or link to a discussion with an active admin of the wiki and agreeing to the spotlight.

I am the founder and lead administrator of the wiki.

The wiki should have at least 200 content pages, not counting stubs. Very short articles (listed at Special:Shortpages) and articles marked with a stub template should make up no more than 1/5th of all pages on the wiki.

We have 479 articles, 37 of which weigh in at under 200 bytes.

The main page of the wiki should have at least one picture, and clear links to the most important content. It should not be sysop-protected for editing unless there is a strong history of vandalism.

We have both a picture and many links to content. We had a history of MP vandalism back in the day, which is why it's semiprotected.

The wiki should have a clear category structure to help readers navigate around the site. Every content page should be in a category (Special:UncategorizedPages should be empty).

We have many categories for all sorts of content, and I've just finished categorizing all pages which weren't categorized already.

The wiki should not be in the middle of choosing new admins, or any other upheavals; it should be a stable, friendly place.

The biggest upheaval in GTW history was in 2008 when we had three users apply to become administrators almost at once. This was dealt with in a matter of days and the wiki has been running smoothly ever since. We are currently undergoing an update to "Gran Turismo Wiki: Spec 2.0," but all this is is basically changing the main page and a few other things - not really an upheaval, just a few adjustments made to make the place more fun and friendly.

The wiki should be using the Wikia welcome tool, signed by admins -- (MediaWiki:Welcome-user should say @latest, @sysop or the name of an admin.)

We use the Wikia welcome tool, and it says @sysop.

The wiki should have a custom message in the Community Center on Recent Wiki Activity. (MediaWiki:Community-corner)

We update Community Corner from time to time with news concerning both the Gran Turismo series of racing games and the site.

The wiki should have a customized skin.

We have a beautiful red-and-black theme complete with custom background and transparency. Additionally, JoePlay, as part of our Spec 2.0 update, just finished turning what few parts of the wiki which weren't customized black in order for these to fit the theme better.

The wiki should not use offensive language or include inappropriate images.

We have a de facto policy against anything even mildly offensive. Not many offensive things are submitted to the wiki, and those that are get dealt with quickly. The last offensive edit was saved in 2008 and survived less than a day, as I recall.

Thanks for reading, and I hope this goes through. If you wish to contact me, I'd suggest my talk page at Gran Turismo Wiki, since I visit GTW everyday. Cheers! --Gp75motorsports REV LIMITER GT-PT/GT-EN/CSW 01:18, November 5, 2011 (UTC)

Kid vs Kat Wiki[]

hi, i know im not much of a talker, but id like kid vs kat wiki to be a spotlight, me and some admins work with all users, so far we've only had 2 bans in 2 years of it being fixed up, and it now a mega hit, we've even meet the author of the kid vs kat show himself, who gives us trivia, and gave us hints on new season, im proud of this wiki, so much care has been put into it, and even thoe the show ended, it still being edited, it a true place for fans to come, and having it on a spotlight will final show that kid vs kat wiki is a true fan site, for years to come, if there any errors on wiki, please report it, and we'll take a look at it, thanks :) --{{SUBST:Signatures/Parsonsda}} 16:33, November 6, 2011 (UTC)

Hi. Kid vs. Kat Wiki looks great and I can see why you are so proud of it. Could you please drop the edit protection level on the main page to protect only against new users and anonymous editors? You also have about 150 uncategorized pages that need to be sorted out. Finally, over 400 of the pages, about 1/3rd of the content, are short pages less than 300 bytes. Quite a few are blank in fact. Could you please work on expanding these? For a spotlight, stub/short pages should be no more than 1/5th of the total content; right now that would be about 275 pages. Let me know on my talk page (or respond to the thread on your wall on the wiki) when you have had a chance to address these changes and I will look again. -- Wendy (talk) 18:38, November 22, 2011 (UTC)

MarioWiki[]

Hello there. I'm Rainbowroad6w, administrator at MarioWiki. I'm requesting spotlight specifically for the Super Mario 3D Land page, considering the video game is releasing in a little less than a week. I was wondering if we could have this put up on spotlight. Thanks! :-) --Rainbowroad6w, the researcher. (Talk)(Recent finds and updates.) 00:39, November 8, 2011 (UTC)

Hi. MarioWiki looks generally pretty good. I see that you have over 800 articles in your stub category. That would need to be decreased to no more than 1/5th of your content, or about 560 pages. You would also need to turn back on the Welcome bot (Mediawiki:Welcome-user should be set to @latest or @sysop or the name of a sysop). Please let me know on my talk page when you have had a chance to straighten out the stubs and turn on the welcome message and I will check again. -- Wendy (talk) 18:51, November 22, 2011 (UTC)

Adele Wiki[]

Hi, I know that my wiki does not have 200 non-stub articles, but I would like to request a spotlight for it because I am well aware that you guys pick a select few wikis. I'm using the Britney Spears Wiki as an example, but even though I am not a fan of hers, I checked out the wiki just for the hell of it and found that it did not have a lot of well-organized articles and did not have 200 non-stub articles (they didn't even have 200 articles). Now, if Britney is popular enough to get a spotlight, then can you please take into consideration getting a spotlight for my wiki, the Adele Wiki, which is dedicated to the British pop star. (She performed "Rolling in the Deep", FYI...) Anyways, can you please just take my offer into consideration??? I really need the help on the wiki and I know I could get some more users with a spotlight! :) Thanks for your time. ---Tsu'tey♫ 00:09, November 11, 2011 (UTC)

I'd also like to request a spotlight for it because beginning in December, we will be having kind of a... holiday-related series of blogs with Christmas media from Adele that I think many Adele fans will take interest in! :) Thanks for your time! ---Tsu'tey♫ 20:39, November 19, 2011 (UTC)

Hi. There are two types of spotlights. Most of the spotlights are wikis chosen by the content team to be highlighted. Those wikis do not have to meet the spotlight criteria listed here, because they are not requested by the wiki itself.
Then there are wikis which request a spotlight -- we wanted to make sure other good wikis had a chance to be highlighted. In order to keep the requests fair (any wiki can get a spotlight if they meet the criteria) and also to keep the numbers from being overwhelming (there are a lot of wikis), a set of best-practices/criteria was developed for the requested spotlights. So unfortunately Adele wiki cannot get a spotlight through this requests page because it does not yet meet the spotlight criteria. It looks like you are doing a nice job on the wiki, and I hope you will ask again when you reach 200 pages.
If you have some special event (eg. an exclusive or semi-exclusive interview, etc.) then you can send a note to Special:Contact and we will make sure the content team knows about it; they may choose to spotlight the event for you. From your description of your blogs I am not quite sure what they are, so if you want to pursue this please make sure to describe what is happening in more detail :). -- Wendy (talk) 19:04, November 22, 2011 (UTC)

Question[]

hello, i'm spottedstar42, admin of a few small wikis with only a few editors, and i have a question about some of the spotlight requirements. (I'm sorry if you're not supposed to put questions here, but i couldn't find anywhere else to ask) It says you can't have more than 1/5 of your wiki's pages be Shortpages, but when i go to Special:ShortPages, it says all of my wiki pages are shortpages. how long do the pages have to be before they aren't Shortpages anymore? The wiki i'm working on (Living on our own Wiki) only has two contributors, including me, so i want to be nice enough to be put up for a spotlight, but i really can't if all my pages are ShortPages.(and just a note, i can't put this wiki up for a spotlight request yet, because it only has 155 pages) anyway, can someone help me with that?{{SUBST:User:Spottedstar42/Sig|21:43,11/11/2011}} 21:43, November 11, 2011 (UTC)

ShortPages lists all of your wiki's pages in order of how big their files are. Usually they only count pages which are less than 200 bytes as stubs. --Gp75motorsports REV LIMITER GT-PT/GT-EN/CSW 04:44, November 12, 2011 (UTC)
Hi. You can ask general questions like this on my talk page directly (I'll see them much sooner). Gp75motorsports is mostly correct, except that we count pages less than 300 bytes as stubs. ShortPages actually lists the 1000 shortest pages on the wiki; if you have less than 1000 pages it will always show every page. -- Wendy (talk) 19:08, November 22, 2011 (UTC)
Sorry, thanks for correcting me on that. :) --Gp75motorsports REV LIMITER GT-PT/GT-EN/CSW 17:58, November 27, 2011 (UTC)

Pirates of the Caribbean Online Wiki (approved)[]

Hello! I'm Dentface a Sysop on the POTCO Wiki, which is a Wiki about Disney's MMORPG, Pirates Online. Were getting close to our 2,000 page mark, and a monumental expansion, Ship Customization is coming out very, very soon. Seeing both of these big events are coming up, we feel that a spotlight would be a good thing to do. We also have a very established category system, which we take pride it. Most of our admins (including myself) work very well with photoshop and MediaWiki, making the wiki's design very appealing to the eye. If we do get accepted, I would like our spotlight to show emphasis on Ship Customization. If possible, could you use this picture in the spotlight? Thanks for your time in reading this, and I hope we get a spotlight! Note: We're different than the POTCO Players Wiki, and are the factual counterpart of them, just to straighten out any confusion there may be :D --Dent--Talk 19:34, November 12, 2011 (UTC)

This isn't an official response but you need to clear w:c:piratesonline:Special:UncategorizedPages --Tama63 19:39, November 12, 2011 (UTC)

Donkey Kong Wiki (approved)[]

Hi, me again, requesting a different wiki to be spotlighted. Donkey Kong Wiki is in need of new editors (as we only have 5 active editors), so we are requesting a spotlight. We have a little less than 1/5 of our articles as stubs, and no uncategorized pages, we are currently a stable place, and our main page is unlocked. -- Bullet Francisco My Talk[[Special:Contributions/Bullet Francisco|Special:Editcount/Bullet Francisco Edits ]]Email Me 19:24, November 13, 2011 (UTC)

Hi. Donkey Kong Wiki is in great shape; thank you for checking the spotlight criteria before you asked! I have added the wiki to the approved spotlight list! -- Wendy (talk) 04:07, November 23, 2011 (UTC)

Eddsworld Wiki[]

The Eddsworld Wiki is a wiki for the webseries Eddsworld. You can find it at http://eddsworld.co.uk/. I feel like this wiki needs a spotlight because usually people who just started Wikia edit here and rarely ever since I became admin the wiki has become less popular, which I am worried about. I am doing this spotlight because the wiki deserves attention and has not gotten it yet. Reviewportal77 23:45, November 13, 2011 (UTC)

Hi. I'm sorry you are having trouble finding editors. The wiki is in good shape, however there are about 50 uncategorized pages -- could you please sort them out? Let me know on my talk page when you've finished and I will check again. -- Wendy (talk) 04:18, November 23, 2011 (UTC)

Music Video Wiki[]

I would like to apply Music Video Wiki for spotlight. The wiki has over 1,000 articles on music videos, artists and directors. The wiki has achievement badges and I have featured article, video of the day and a weekly list of ten videos on the main page.

Cms13ca 02:07, November 15, 2011 (UTC)

Hi. Music Video Wiki looks good, and would just need a few tweaks to be spotlighted. Could you please customize the community-corner? There are also a handful of uncategorized pages that need to be sorted. Let me know on my talk page when you have taken care of these things and I will check again. -- Wendy (talk) 04:34, November 23, 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for taking care of those. I have added the wiki to the approved spotlight list! -- Wendy (talk) 02:28, November 25, 2011 (UTC)

Roller Coaster Custom Wiki[]

Hello, I am Kata89, the admin of the wiki. The wiki focuses on custom coasters made by other users. We have 34 pages right now, but I know we can be spotlighted because the Kinect Wiki got spotlighted with 28. We have five users. But we really would need more. The home page is in great condition. It includes a slider, links, polls, information on the wiki and links to forums. The wiki also has a terms of use. There is no arugments or anything like that happening right now. Actually, there never has been. There is no inapropriate content on the wiki. I really would apprectiate it if this wiki would be spotlighted. Here is a link to the home page: RollerCoasterCustomWiki.com. Ruler of the coasters 20:43, November 16, 2011 (UTC)Kata89

This isn't a official response but thought i'd let you know that you wiki needs at least 200 content pages. :)

Atarv55

I just answered this for the Adele Wiki request, so I am going to cut and paste the explanation here; please forgive the duplication.
So unfortunately your wiki cannot get a spotlight through this requests page because it does not yet meet the spotlight criteria. It looks like you are doing a nice job on the wiki, and I hope you will ask again when you reach 200 pages. -- Wendy (talk) 19:13, November 22, 2011 (UTC)

code lyoko wiki (approved)[]

The code lyoko is a wiki in good standing with a healthy number of editors. We've already been spotlighted, but I'd like that light to shine a little longer. Which is why I'm putting in another request. ^_^

If it doesn't meet the requirements, plz lemme know.

Note: I am a sysop of this wiki.
Hi. Pikmin is in pretty good shape overall, but would need a few tweaks to meet the spotlight criteria. Could you please customize the community corner? Also there are a few uncategorized pages. Finally you would need to reduce the number of short stub pages. Right now you have about 450 pages shorter than 300 bytes, which is more than 1/3rd of your content. In order to be spotlighted the wiki would need to have only 1/5th of the content in stub pages, or about 250 pages. Please feel free to ask again when you've had a chance to expand the content on the wiki! -- Wendy (talk) 03:44, December 2, 2011 (UTC)

My Little Brony Wiki (approved)[]

Hello Wikia Central :) I'm the founder of http://mylittlebrony.wikia.com/?redirect=no and i'm here to apply for a spotlight (At least i think this is the right page). I beleive My Little Brony Wiki has

  • More than 200 pages
  • The main page has more than one picture
  • All pages are categorized (I checked them last night, they might not be updated yet)
  • We're not in the middle of choosing an admin
  • We have a skin and we love to use our community messages

And finally, our article stubs are under the borderline. By the way, we have gallery pages in order to stop users from flooding the main article page with pictures :) Some of them only have a few pictures, although when users begin to join our wiki, i'll be sure that they'll add some pictures for other users to look at!

Why are we different from My little pony wiki? (http://mlp.wikia.com/wiki/My_Little_Pony_Friendship_is_Magic_Wiki) We are different from MLP Wiki because we accept fan fic and fan art. I made this wiki for fans to enjoy and learn about My Little Pony, and for them to share their fan fic plus fan art with the community. MLP Wiki shows a ZERO tolerance to fan fic or fan art. I find it quite upsetting that the fans of My Little Pony Wiki aren't allowed to share their love for My little pony by not being able to have their fan art or fan fics get featured on the main page or a separate section. I'm hoping that if we have the spotlight, My Little Pony fans will then find us the perfect place to socialize, learn and share their fan fics plus art.

Why is our article count higher than MLP Wikis? This is because we write about the Background ponies that appear in the show. My Little pony only have a vague list of background ponies, giving a brief description of %80 of the background ponies. Although with us, we actually make a WHOLE article dedicated to the background pony, writing about their appearance, the episode they appeared in, etc. Users will find our wiki quite useful if they want to learn a specific background character.

On MLB Wiki, we like ti get our users involved in a lot of activities, and make their time at our wiki fun. We have 6 sections dedicated to our users on our main page, informing them on the latest what. We haven't started the system yet since not many pony fans know about us, due to MLP Wiki being on top of the google search engine, pushing us down. We'd love it if we were able to get this spotlight in order to attract new users on our site! :)

Thank you for your time central wikia! I really appreciate it :). If we do not meet the standards of getting the spotlight, please tell us so we can improve our wiki and try again next time! :D Kellyn|Talky 07:33, November 24, 2011 (UTC)

Using the monobook skin my page is all messed up, but who cares, wikia supports their own Wikia skin only nowadays. I use a highly customized monobook skin that resembles vector. Good luck with your spotlight! --..Jeff (Talk!) (Contribs!) (Email!) (Blog!).. 16:25, November 25, 2011 (UTC)

Dumbledoree's Army RolePlay Wiki (approved)[]

Hi! I would like to request spotlight.

  • The requestor should be either an active admin, or link to a discussion with an active admin of the wiki and agreeing to the spotlight.
    • I am a bureaucrat on this wiki
  • The wiki should have at least 200 content pages, not counting stubs. Very short articles (listed at Special:Shortpages) and articles marked with a stub template should make up no more than 1/5th of all pages on the wiki.
    • We have 275 pages and only 25 stubs, way under the limit.
  • The main page of the wiki should have at least one picture, and clear links to the most important content. It should not be sysop-protected for editing unless there is a strong history of vandalism.
    • We have many pictures and important links. It is sysop protected because there is a history of vandalism, and users have decided to just add whatever they feel like. Still, if you would like use to downgrade the protection, we will.
  • The wiki should have a clear category structure to help readers navigate around the site. Every content page should be in a category (Special:UncategorizedPages should be empty).
    • Empty. There may be 1-10 pages do the caching delays, but we do our best to keep it empty.
  • The wiki should not be in the middle of choosing new admins, or any other upheavals; it should be a stable, friendly place.
    • We are done choosing new admins. We are working to make the wiki better, but not an upheavel. Just some things needing fixed!
  • The wiki should be using the Wikia welcome tool, signed by admins -- (MediaWiki:Welcome-user should say @latest, @sysop or the name of an admin.)
    • Used with @sysop
  • The wiki should have a custom message in the Community Center on Recent Wiki Activity. (MediaWiki:Community-corner)
    • Used for announcements all the time.
  • The wiki should have a customized skin.
    • Joeplay just helped us create a beautiful main page. We also have a custom backround and design.
  • The wiki should not use offensive language or include inappropriate images.
    • One of our biggest policies. CLEAN STUFF ONLY.

I think we meet the criteria. Thanks so much for your time. Head of Ravenclaw (Talk | Contribs) 20:58, November 24, 2011 (UTC)

Songpedia[]

Hello, I'm Jeffwang16, and I am currently an administrator and a bureaucrat on Songpedia (verify) and I would like to request a spotlight for our wiki. Why? The wiki is in very good shape, we have many songs with lyrics, so contributors can listen, edit, and even have their own playlist, which replaces the watchlist!

  • The requester should be either an active admin, or link to a discussion with an active admin of the wiki and agreeing to the spotlight.
I am an admin, that's how I changed Community Corner...
  • The wiki should have at least 200 content pages, not counting stubs. Very short articles (listed at Special:Shortpages) and articles marked with a stub template should make up no more than 1/5th of all pages on the wiki.
Whoa, all yes!!
  • The main page of the wiki should have at least one picture, and clear links to the most important content. It should not be sysop-protected for editing unless there is a strong history of vandalism.
Our main page is fully protected and the template supporting the mainpage (Template:Mainpage), however, Template:Mainpage uses Template:Mainpageleft and Template:Mainpageright, which are free for autoconfirmed to edit. If this is not okay, please change it for me.
  • The wiki should have a clear category structure to help readers navigate around the site. Every content page should be in a category (Special:UncategorizedPages should be empty).
Done, and if you think it's unclear, please show and tell me, it's constructive criticism!
  • The wiki should not be in the middle of choosing new admins, or any other upheavals; it should be a stable, friendly place.
We are done with everything, but we still have everyday maintenance tasks.
  • The wiki should be using the Wikia welcome tool, signed by admins -- (MediaWiki:Welcome-user should say @latest, @sysop or the name of an admin.)
@sysop is what we have it as.
  • The wiki should have a custom message in the Community Center on Recent Wiki Activity. (MediaWiki:Community-corner)
Yes.
  • The wiki should have a customized skin.
Yes.
  • The wiki should not use offensive language or include inappropriate images.
Only in quotes and lyrics we allow it. Is that not okay? Also, we will get oversight to delete edits if necessary (aka yuck images).

The image we would like to use would be w:c:song:File:Wiki-wordmark.png, and our little "description" will be (without the quotations) "Listen to music or help us edit, all on Songpedia!".

Thank you very much! --..Jeff (Talk!) (Contribs!) (Email!) (Blog!).. 16:23, November 25, 2011 (UTC)

Hi. Your most recent edit to the community corner says you have just merged with Music Wiki. Do you intend to continue working on Songpedia? Otherwise I don't think it's a good time to be spotlighting it. -- Wendy (talk) 04:40, December 2, 2011 (UTC)

Nerf Blaster Wiki (2) (approved)[]

Nerf Blaster Wiki is a hard working community right now with just over 800 articles. [nerfipedia.wikia.com] Here is the link to it. We have actually gone through a phase in which we are removing a lot of articles which no longer relate to the topic, but we also have a lot of new information to add. While removing old articles we have been gradually adding information to smaller articles. Around half of our articles have 1000+ bytes, which is pretty good. Articles under 400 bytes? We have four. There's no broken redirects, uncategorized pages and very few double redirects which can easily be removed. The main page is outdated, but it suits the wiki and has some pictures. We already had this wiki go through spotlight, but it missed due to simple errors which are all fixed. Hope you take this into consideration, GameGear370 17:04, November 27, 2011 (UTC)

Not staff: No current upheavals, the wiki should be a peaceful, calm area. --..Jeff (Talk!) (Contribs!) (Email!) (Blog!).. 17:10, November 27, 2011 (UTC)
Uhh... thanks? GG360 17:47, November 27, 2011 (UTC)
Not staff - That wasn't a compliment. Removing a lot of articles which no longer relate to the topic as of right now makes the wiki in a upheaval, therefore the request would be denied. Just saying. If you need my help, please talk on my talk page! --..Jeff (Talk!) (Contribs!) (Email!) (Blog!).. 19:08, November 27, 2011 (UTC)
It's not like it's a major thing, I got rid of some older articles that didn't relate to the topic. It wont get denied just because I removed some articles with poor grammar that had a very little byte count. The wiki itself is very peaceful, with maximum around 4 writers a week. We don't get a lot of attention. It's also nice to have someone who's also up for spotlight come up and point out minor issues. Thanks for that. GG360 20:42, November 27, 2011 (UTC)

Hello, I'd like to request the Bakugan Wikia for a Spotlight. We have 3,800+ articles, and possibly more soon, and with stable admins and articles.

I'm just a bit curious, is it possible to do the art yourself? I see it on the list of upcoming ones, unless I'm mistaken. Also, could we set a date, so in goes along with our Wikia's anniversary, on March 14th?

Cheers, Abce2|Talk 'Other things" 03:08, November 30, 2011 (UTC)

Hi. Which list of upcoming spotilghts did you mean? If content team decides to highlight the wiki they do the art. If you request a spotlight here you may suggest an image to be used; they frequently will use them but have the final decision on it.
In terms of a request, you would need to re-enable the automatic welcome tool. Also, you would need to fix the text on the main page. Right now it is black on black :). Let me know on my talk page when you have addressed these issues and I will be happy to add Bakugan Wiki to the approved spotlight list on this page. -- Wendy (talk) 04:33, December 3, 2011 (UTC)

Pixie Wiki[]

I was wondering if the Pixie Wiki could be spotlighted. I guess you can say that the wiki isn't just all about pixies but other sprites and folkloric creatures too, so that's one reason why it doesn't really deserve a spotlight :P But I really think that the wiki could use some more editors and contributors. I've build the wiki really well and tried improving it as much as I can though now that everything's settled and there's not much to do, I haven't been editing much lately and I guess it could use a lot more content. But I've worked really hard on the wiki and I think that it deserves a spotlight somehow... tell me if it's okay :) (Oh and we don't have a lot of admins because there are only 4 contributors to the wiki)

LEGO Harry Potter Video Game Wikia Spotlight Request[]

Moved from Adoption Requests page by Godisme.

Hello administrator Amanda Young here wishing for a spotlight to be made for the LEGO Harry Potter Video Games Wiki.

The new LEGO Harry Potter Years 5-7 Video Game is just around the corner and the wiki possesses over 208 articles as well as a complimentory background, main page, great selection of templates and images.

Even possesses an adequate main page slider pertaining to the LEGO Harry Potter Years 5-7 Video Game.

Here's the link for the LEGO Harry Potter Video Games Wiki:

I would like the following image if you please to be the spotlight advertisement image:

This belongs on the spotlights requests page. Annawantimes (Talk) 00:12, December 6, 2011 (UTC)
Hi. Lego Harry Potter Wiki looks like a lot of fun, but unfortunately it does not meet all of the requested spotlight criteria. In order to be spotlighted you would need to drop the protection on the main page to only block unregistered users and new accounts from editing. You would also need to customize the Community Corner. There are about 80 pages that need to be categorized.

Finally you would need to strengthen your content a bit. The spotlight criteria is to have 200 non-stub articles. You have 217 articles, so that means an allowed 17 stubs. While you only have 4 pages under 300 bytes in length, which is the typical "stub-length", you have about 50 pages which are completely empty except for a 336 byte placeholder template. So you would need to fill in real content for about 40 of those 50 pages in order to meet the 200 non-stub pages requirement for a spotlight.

Please let me know on my talk page when the wiki can meet all the spotlight criteria, or, if it has been awhile, make a new request at that time. -- Wendy (talk) 04:16, December 16, 2011 (UTC)

Recess Wiki (approved)[]

Therecess wiki is an obscurse place with few editors. Based on the show from the ninteies, we have over 250 pages. I also recently gave the front page a facelift and the wiki, a new logo. We are ready to embrace new editors and start a new community. ^.^

Hi. Recess Wiki's new front page looks great! There are a few tweaks it needs to meet the spotlight criteria. You would need to drop the main page protection to only block unregistered users (and new accounts) rather than all non-sysops. The community corner needs to be customized. Finally there are about 25 uncategorized pages which need to be sorted out. Let me know on my talk page when you have taken care of these and I will be happy to add the wiki to the approved spotlight list. -- Wendy (talk) 04:29, December 16, 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for taking care of that stuff. I've added the wiki to the approved spotlight list! -- Wendy (talk) 00:27, December 31, 2011 (UTC)

League of Legends Wiki (approved)[]

Hello there. I'd like to request a spotlight for LoL Wiki. The image I'd like to spotlight is this one. And for the caption, I'd like it to be "Push, Defend, Capture, Dominate. Enter the world of League of Legends!" —Technology Wizard ·Contribs· ~Talk~ ·E-Mail·  03:56, 12/8/2011

Hi. League of Legends Wiki is still in great shape and I've put it back onto the approved spotlight list. -- Wendy (talk) 04:35, December 16, 2011 (UTC)

Clone Wars Wiki (approved)[]

Hi, I am an admin on the Clone Wars Wiki. I would like to request a spotlight for our wiki because it is nearing the middle of the Clone Wars season on Cartoon Network. Everyone is thrilled, because "Death Watch" is returning. So, I am going to create a request to put the Clone Wars Wiki on Spotlight. We would like this picture:

Bo-katan deathwatch clonewars

And for it to say: "Death Watch returns with a bang" or something like that. You guys are better than this at us by far. Anyways, please consider the request, thank you for your time. -- Evanf | talk | contribs

Evanescence Wiki[]

I think Evanescence Wiki is ready to have a spotlight. We could use more editors and we have covered most of the songs. I hope it gets a spotlight :) New Captain 14:26, December 10, 2011 (UTC)

Hi, I am not a part of staff or anything, but read the requirements. You only have 66 content pages. But, you don't have any uncategorized pages, and you don't have any Article Stubs. Here are some extra links for the Staff:

Thanks, -- Evanf | talk | contribs

Hi. I'm sorry but in order to be spotlighted through this page wikis need to meet our Spotlight Criteria, which includes having 200 content pages. Please feel free to ask again when you've had a chance to grow the wiki. If you wish, you might also try posting on this page to see if people want to help you add content. Good luck with it! -- Wendy (talk) 04:49, December 16, 2011 (UTC)

Bomberman Wiki (approved)[]

Hi. Bomberman Wiki is requesting another spotlight, the last one requested back in July. We should still be in good shape.

Last Exile Wiki (approved)[]

I am one of the two admins at the Last Exile wiki and would like to get featured. I've checked the best practices and tried my best to emulate them. We have 266 pages and counting. Thanks! TheBelgianGuy 00:41, December 17, 2011 (UTC)

I'm not sure about this, but you cannot make changes to the skin via Wikiwide .css per the ToU. --..Jeff (Talk!) (Contribs!) (Email!) (Blog!).. 16:29, December 20, 2011 (UTC)
I've looked at some of the Spotlight wikis and this cannot be the case. --TheBelgianGuy 05:45, December 21, 2011 (UTC)
Hi. You can edit the skin using css instead of theme designer as long as you don't break the terms of use (basically don't remove elements, change the basic layout, redirect links, etc). I don't see a problem on this particular wiki. I've added it to the approved spotlight list. -- Wendy (talk) 04:44, December 28, 2011 (UTC)
