Can an employee copy this information to the Wikia Inc. website? I'm a contributor to Wikipedia, and I want to cite the fact that Jimmy is the Chair of Wikia. Sadly, this is the only place that it's mentioned, and we're not allowed to cite other wikis. -- Zanimum 15:44, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

- But it's only editable by staff, meaning that it should be as reliable as a website updated with non-wiki software. Is there any reason not to have this list mirrored there? No one's ever complained when people site the Wikimedia Foundation website, which works the same way. -- Zanimum 18:58, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
- I tried to make an automatic copy but shared templates aren't working on that wiki. I don't think there's a need to duplicate this just because some Wikipedians prefer information from non-editable websites. It would end up out of date and out of sync with this version. I watched Jim Walsh yesterday on TV explaining that Wikia was a competitor to Google. I find Wikipedia great and rejoyced at the news. I checked Wikia this morning and found wikia to be a pale copy of wikipedia. Am I missing something?

- That show was talking about the new Search Wikia. I think that if you look at some of the more developed wikis, you'll see that Wikia is much more in depth than Wikipedia. For example, the Muppet Wiki has over 13000 articles on muppets, compared to just a few hundred in Wikipedia. All sorts of content are welcome here as opposed to Wikipedia which is restricted to encyclopedic information. See the new magazine style wikis such as entertainment.wikia for a site which is more obviously different to Wikipedia. If you imagine Wikipedia as an encyclopedia, Wikia is aiming to be the rest of the library (and the magazine rack too!). :) Angela talk 00:27, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
