A one-minute video overview about the Marvel Cinematic Universe version of Wanda Maximoff, The Scarlet Witch, her powers, abilities and characteristics as depicted in the MCU movies, and Avengers expanded universe.
Wanda Maximoff, along with her twin brother, Pietro, is a native of the Eastern European country of Sokovia. With a childhood full of tragedy, Wanda desired to free her country from the terrors of war and claim vengeance on Tony Stark, to whom she blamed the death of her parents. This desire grew to such a point that she volunteered to be experimented on by HYDRA, and through the use of Loki’s Scepter and the Mind Stone, eventually gaining the formidable powers she now possesses.
Her powers allow her to mentally control the motion of any object on a molecular level, and can control its physical forces in various ways. Even containing explosions, or tearing enemies apart by their atoms. Wanda can also use her powers to read the minds of others, or mentally communicate and experience their memories and thoughts. With her power to manipulate the mind, she is capable of eliciting fear or emotional pain on a person in the form of nightmarish hallucinations that could stun and weaken the individual - or deploy a mental inertness upon them through a form of hypnosis.
Despite her initial desire to destroy Tony Stark and the Avengers, Wanda was willing to set aside her personal grudges for the common good, as she ultimately aided the Avengers in evacuating Sokovia during Ultron’s attack, and becoming an official member of the team’s second incarnation.
Marvel movies featuring Scarlet Witch are: - Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) - Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) - Captain America: Civil War (2016)
