How many edits have you made on that wiki? 975

How many days/months have you been editing there? 8 days

On the Special Pages -> Special:ListUsers when was the last time an admin edited, and who was it? July 26, 2012; Fido488

Any other information: The reason I am asking for bureaucrat rights is the "Candidates for deletion" page contains over 140 pages. This is too many. I realize that I have only been editing for one week; however, I believe the Wiki needs urgent modification. We have only one semi-active admin, and our only bureaucrat, Mjnj521, has not edited since February. The last admin to edit, Fido488, does not know anything about being an admin. He even says so on his talk page: "Apparently I'm an admin. If you need help please don't ask me because I don't know how to handle griefing. Sorry." We cannot wait 60 days for this. In the past 60 days, Fido488 has made a total of 19 edits. The Tekkit Wiki needs new admins now. Please condsider making at least one of us a bureaucrat before the 60 day limit is up, the wiki will be completely run down by then. Many thanks, MinecraftRogue (talk) (blog) 05:08, August 10, 2012 (UTC)

Unofficial response: (Please wait for an official response by a staff member)
For a wiki to become adoptable, all admins on the wiki have to have not edited for the past 60 days at least. Because of how recently Fido has edited, it currently isn't adoptable. The soonest the Tekkit Wiki can become adoptable is September 24, given that no other admins edit until then. If the candidates for deletion are getting clogged up, perhaps you could post on Fido's talk page/message wall to notify them of it and request that they work on clearing the category. How many edits have you made on that wiki? 57

How many days/months have you been editing there? 1 month (since June 7)

On the Special Pages -> Special:ListUsers when was the last time an admin edited, and who was it? July 26, 2012, Fido488 (sysop); February 23, 2012, Mjnj521 (b'crat)

{C}Any other information: The only problem we're having with the admin, Fido488, is that his activity was already declining by the time he made his most recent edits. As you can see on contributions, the last time he was steadily active was in the beginning of April; after that, he didn't edit again until the middle of June, and then only a few edits. If you look on the log page, you'll notice he managed to delete quite a few things in short "active" time in July; however, on closer inspection, he only managed to delete 4 pages, as the rest were comments assigned to those pages or spam/vandal comments. At the bottom, you'll notice he created his account on March 7, 2012, which shows that's all the help he's done so far. Currently, as MinecraftRogue has said, the delete category has risen to over 100 pages (not including those where IPs have removed the tag/category). The next sysop, Rapture88, has not edited since the beginning of May, and our only b'crat, Mjnj521, has not edited since February. Currently, this wiki is becoming a big target for vandalism; if you'll notice on the Wiki Activity page, the most edited page is a not-so-friendly page to kids coming to research a game. We're having problems with vandals and edit warrings, as seen on these history pages: [1], [2], [3]. This is becoming a very serious problem as this wiki is incredibly active. I haven't even mentioned the spam/vandal comments that are flooding the RC, yet. As you can see, this wiki is in dire need. We can't really wait until September 24, as the vandalism will just continue to rise until the entire place is just a pile of trash. We really need to get someone admin status so we can clean the place up. MinecraftRogue here has made more edits on this wiki than me, and he promises to be an active user. I have been admin and b'crat on another wiki, and have been for about 2 1/2 years, so I'm pretty familiar with responsibilities and abilities. It would be better if at least one of us was able to be b'crat, that way we can promote more to admins in case we need extra help. However, if you still can't grant us permanent admin status, at least grant us temporary status, that way we can clear up the place. What I mean by temporary, is we'll remain admins until one of the official wiki admins becomes active and then we'll leave it up to them to decide whether or not we'll remain admins. If they say no, then we can desysop ourselves and let them handle it from there on out. I do urge you to heavily consider this, as this wiki really needs help. No matter what you decide, I thank you for your consideration. Sincerely, The Exterminator.

UPDATE: So, on August 8th, Fido488 finally returned. Good news right? Well, excited as I was, I decided to see what he managed to do: contribs, logs. I found out that he did nothing to help. He posted an image of his favourite set-up for a game's machine, and that's it. Now, it's not like he's completely oblivious that we need help; on his talk page, several days before he made his last edit on July 26, he was notified that people were griefing/vandalizing excessively and was asked for aid. On those pages they mentioned, he didn't do anything. He was even notified before August 8th that a lot of pages were needing to be deleted. However, when he does edit, he completely ignores everything we've asked him to do. Just earlier today, I had to go to VSTF because someone had uploaded a pornographic photo to the wiki. We really need help, but I'm afraid that Fido's editing today will ruin our chance of cleaning up the wiki. I beg of you to make an exemption and help us, as our admins have abandoned the place. {C}How many edits have you made on that wiki? Only 20 but I plan on a lot more

{C}How many days/months have you been editing there? about 13 days

{C}On the Special Pages -> Special:ListUsers when was the last time an admin edited, and who was it? July 26, 2012; Fido488

{C}Any other information:

This wiki is largely unmaintained by its admins and only has a few (I count 5 people) major editors, the rest is vandalism. I'm reverting 1-2 a day, and the two folks above me are reverting and editing even more. With more blood and fresh start, we can get this wiki turned around and pointed in the right direction before it falls completely into the cesspool of vandalism. We have 125+ Articles that are Candidates for Deletion due to heavy vandalism and more being added each day. Multiple edit wars and a comment system which is out of control. I urge you to consider our pleads for someone on this page to become an admin before the 60 day limit is reached.

Again, thank you for your time. Jguy (talk) 19:05, August 7, 2012 (UTC)

How many edits have you made on that wiki? 118

How many days/months have you been editing there? A week (since August 3rd)

On the Special Pages -> Special:ListUsers when was the last time an admin edited, and who was it? July 26, 2012, Fido488 (sysop)

Any other information: On our wiki (as with any other) we have a special group of people who do a lot for the wiki and try to maintain said wiki to high standards, to write new pages they can be proud of, and always adding and improving. We would also try to help the admins by putting up pages for deletion and such. This group would be all the people above, me, and some more of the editors back at the wiki. The one problem is our admins are not as active as they should far. At our wiki, we get a flood of people visiting every day to research a tool or block, look up new ways of doing things, simply chat about tekkit or minecraft in general, or actually help the wiki out by making useful edits. Thats about half of the incoming population. The other half is there only to commit pure vandalism, plain and simple (nothing old for you i assume). Our group of loyal editors including myself has and always is trying control this, but it is becoming very difficult to do with no admins. We can't even delete the articles to begin with, and the "Candidates for Deletion" list has a grand total of 135 pages. Many of us have already talked it over, and it is clear we need a new admin, and one of us would be great for the job. I would be a great candidate. Although i have only started editing about five days ago, i have already created over 25 pages, done a total 118, and am already ranked #15, and im always editing on here. I highly urge you, this can not wait 60 days! The wiki will become extremely messy and cluttered if we dont act. Its become way out of control. Please consider our pleas and make one of us admin. Thank you for your time.

Request #5

First off I'd like express my anoyance at whoever decided that they should delete my request. I am still an admin on the Tekkit Wiki and I don't want this sort of thing to start. It's very annoying and childish. What is your username? Fido488

Please link to the wiki here: The Tekkit Wiki How many edits have you made on that wiki? 109, I am also a current Admin on the site How many days/months have you been editing there? Since March 17th, 2012 On the Special Pages -> Special:ListUsers when was the last time an admin edited, and who was it? August 8th, 2012; Fido488

Any other information:

I was made an admin because of my many contributions before this wiki became as popular as it is now. It is true that I haven't made as many edits to the wiki as some of the others but I would like to fix the wiki as soon as posible.

I haven't been heavily active on it because I hadn't realized what a dire state it was in. Mjnj521 (the founder) seemed to make a few admins before going MIA in February.

As soon as I am given the opertunity I will make everyone who is in the top 15 to 20 editors admin priveleges and at least the top 5 burocratic status. This wiki is very important to a growing comunity who uses it as a constant refrence guide while they play. The constant griefing is too much for a group of 5 admins to deal with. Especially with most of them not contributing in any way.

If nothing else, at least give me burocratic status so that I can premote some of the other people that are working so hard to save this wiki.

However, I do not want ownership of the wiki! I would only like to be given burocratic status so that I can support this wiki to the best of my ability. Give ownership to someone else who is much more invested in the wiki.

I will support whoever wikia selects to take over. I just hope that whoever does take over will be willing to hand off leadership when their intrest drops off (as it will eventually).

Fido, I'm not sure promoting 20 people to administrator position is a good idea. As active as the wiki is, and even though we do have a lot of clean-up to do, having the 5 of us as active admins is all we need. If we came to the point where an edit was made every two seconds, then yes we would probably need a lot more; however, 5 admins with two being b'crats is plenty for us. --The Exterminator (message) 03:20, August 10, 2012 (UTC)
This is why you can't be a bureaucrat. By your standards, if only the top 15 people were admins, you wouldn't be one. You're level 31. Most if not all of the other people that have applied have made more edits than you in less time. It took you 6 months to get to rank 31. I am rank #2. I have accomplished this is 8 days. MinecraftRogue (talk) (blog) 05:28, August 10, 2012 (UTC)

I would also like to point out that on Fido488's page, it has the text that he doesn't know why he's admin, nor does he know how to use it to its full potential (banning users, reverting pages, dealing with vandalism, etc). Jguy (talk) 19:27, August 7, 2012 (UTC)

Staff response

Hi. I’m glad to see there’s so much enthusiasm. Given that so many people are requesting to adopt it, though, and given that it’s not technically available for adoption, the adoption page is not the best place to handle this. Here is what I would instead suggest. The community of the wiki should hold a discussion about its apparent desire to have a new admin onboard the team. That discussion would include a vote for who should become the next admin. Once the community makes its decision, someone can send a message to Special:Contact with a link to that discussion. We’ll then give admin rights to the user(s) who was chosen by the community. Thanks! - Brandon Rhea@fandom(talk) 22:31, August 10, 2012 (UTC)
