Does any body have an alternative to wikias std gallery function ? I dont like the shaded box and pacing with the caption sat below. I've created some using a two col table with an image then the caption but thats also wastefull of space & adding a size for every image is tedious. It would be better as two or three column table with the caption below each image, a size parameter for the whole table and the ability to take the std image code as input without having to strip the thumb code and brackets manually for each entry. This could then sit inside collapsible box (have a couple of different templates for that).

I'm looking for something that takes:

{{gallery
|name=
|noofcol=
|size=
|image=
|image=
|image=
|.....

|}

Here is an couple of examples using a basic table but both versions have problems. I've used that format before but am not 100 % happy with it. The first fills the page but there is too much blank spage round the text, with the secont the text is bigger than the image leaving a gap.

can anybody point me to a wiki with a suitable gallery table template ?

Is it possible to add an input button to tables to add new data rows via an input box ?

You mention the shaded box and spacing as your primary dislike of the default gallery presentation style. If the default style is all that you dislike then it may pay dividends to experiment with the neutral class to alter the background color and the spacing via CSS. If your browser is firefox then install firebug to play with those parameters interactively and when you arrive at the effect you prefer then hard code that via your site's CSS customization file. If your browser is IE then the F12 key should open a similar interactive query/edit feature for styles.

strange I added a longreply to this yesterday - the server glitchs must be causing a return to an earlier version. - BulldozerD11 21:29, May 27, 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, I saw your long reply, but every time I tried to edit, it didn't appear in the edit window. When I saved my recent edit your comment disappeared. -- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 2:36 PM PST 27 May 2010
