This afternoon, one of our authors raised a point about something he found on Amazon.com ... a print version of our fan-based wiki. A little research uncovered that some 13000 books have been listed (using some automation, clearly), all drawing on the material posted online. Something tells me that few, if any, efforts have been made to properly credit or gain approval from those whose content has been thrown together to create print versions.

When I contacted Amazon about this seller, I was given the following process to follow:

If you believe that your work has been copied in a way that constitutes copyright infringement, please provide Amazon.com's copyright agent the written information specified below. This procedure is exclusively for notifying Amazon.com and its affiliates that your copyrighted material has been infringed.
- An electronic or physical signature of the person authorized to act on behalf of the owner of the copyright interest;
- A description of the copyrighted work that you claim has been infringed upon;
- A description of where the material that you claim is infringing is located on the site;
- Your address, telephone number, and e-mail address;
- A statement by you that you have a good-faith belief that the disputed use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law;
- A statement by you, made under penalty of perjury, that the above information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the copyright owner's behalf.
Amazon.com's Copyright Agent for notice of claims of copyright infringement on its site can be reached as follows:

Thank you for taking the time to contact us about this matter.

I hope I will not be alone in informing Amazon that completely unmonitored publication like this is unacceptible. This particular theft of the work of others might be obvious in its extreme nature (though we are lucky to have caught it this soon)... but how many other such violations of intellectual property rights are going unnoticed because no one has discovered that their work has ended up with someone else's name on it?

Whether you agree or not, I hope everyone using Wikia takes a look... and acts appropriately. Just do a search in the Amazon books section and include your wikia page name... or just the word Wikia. —This unsigned comment is by 76.114.38.142 (wallcontribs).
