How can a user be marked as a bot? From what I read here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Bots it should be done by adding a "bot flag", but I didn't find the place where the bot flag should be added.
- The bot flag can only be applied by staff, currently. Just request it from one of the Community support (or ask here, now that we're here). Usually a good idea to have the founder or community's permission/support. --Splarka (talk) 10:02, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
- I would like a bot flag for username: "Erel Import Bot", for this Wikia: http://he.judaism.wikia.com/ . It is coordinated with that Wikia's founder Ori229 . --Erel Segal 10:34, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
I also would like a bot flag for the username Morn at http://www.memory-alpha.org/pt/wiki/Página_principal, where I'm the admin. -- Gabriel O. Brum 16:07, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
Request for a bot flag for username "DiagnosticDrone" at http://transformers.wikia.com/ The bot is owned by the user Steve-o --FortMax 17:13, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
- Replied at w:c:transformers:User_talk:DiagnosticDrone. --Splarka (talk) 06:20, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
Request for a bot flag for username "Progenitor Mover" at Homeworld wikia; set me as owner, I'm sysop on this wikia. SkywalkerPL 06:45, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
- I see no edits by such a username. Can you show a demonstrated need for a bot flag? --Splarka (talk) 08:25, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
- As I see on "DiagnosticDrone" account on transformers wikia, bot is standard account, so I made new one that you could set it as Robot. I need bot for auto text replacement (mostly to get rid of typos), create some Interwiki links, also to swap internal links to redirection pages with direct links to articles (there are tons of it). Also it could create lists of wrong filled infoboxes, yet I need to learn how to make bot do that. SkywalkerPL 09:23, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
- The usual procedure is to make a bot and test it while people can see it is working properly. The bot flag is mostly only for hiding edits from Special:Recentchanges (there are other more esoteric reasons, like avoiding captchas for adding new external links, or moving lots of pages quickly, but they don't usually apply). Basically, you don't need the bot flag until you are spamming recent changes enough to warrant it (as DiagnosticDrone was). Most assuredly, you don't need it when you don't even have a bot yet. --Splarka (talk) 10:09, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

Request for bot flag for user name "KingAragorn Bot" on The One Wiki to Rule them All, where i'm a bureaucrat.-- KingAragorn talk LOTR email 18:09, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
Request for bot flag for username "ExBot" on Russian Central Wikia, where i'm admin --exlex 16:19, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
- ExBot doesn't seem to have any edits. Usually it is best to demonstrate to the community the need to hide edits before doing so (and that the bot is 'safe'). --Splarka (talk) <Staff> 08:17, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
Request for bot flag for username "DarkJedi613 bot" on the Harry Potter Wiki, where I'm a Bureaucrat. Thanks a lot! -- DarkJedi613 (Talk) 19:42, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
