Hi,

I'm trying customizing Monaco skin for my wiki. But I faced with weird behavior of Monaco-sidebar and Monaco-toolbox templates. If I change them, the changes are available only if I'm not logged in. Otherwise, I still see the default menus. What should I change in addition to make custom menus be visible for logged-in users? Thanks, --GrAnd 14:38, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

When you modify CSS, you must do an hard refresh (CTRL+F5). — TulipVorlax 23:35, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the reply. But I'm talking not about Monaco.css style-sheet file. I'm talking about the modification of left-sided menus. Yes, I know that the clearing the cache could help, but not in this case. Also, I tried different browsers and different computers with the same result.
Firstly I noticed my new menu appears only if I logged out. Now it seems I found the root cause. If Wikia's interface is shown in English, the new customized menu is used. If user uses any other language settings in his preferences, he will see the default menu. That's why I do not see my menus if I logged in (I use Russian interface). I checked some other non-English interfaces and noticed that they use the default menu also.
Here are screenshots of the menu with English and Russian wiki interfaces (Russian one still uses the default menu structure):
Wiki_menu_eng.png -------- Wiki_menu_rus.png
The question is: how to make the menu to be the same in all language interfaces? With the monobook skin there is no such problem. It uses customized menu structure regardless of interface language (with correct text substitution). --GrAnd 09:38, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
BTW. This weird behavior is also true for other wikis. For example, the appearance menus of Wikia Help with different language:
English interface -------- Russian interface

I know what are you talking about. That's a weird bug. Maybe a solution would be to place the same on MediaWiki:Monaco-sidebar (default), MediaWiki:Monaco-sidebar/ru (for russian), MediaWiki:Monaco-sidebar/en (for english) and so on. --Ciencia Al Poder (talk) -WikiDex 11:14, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
Thank you for the pointing me to that forum. So, it's known issue. And I do not think the changing of that two templates for each of 100 languages is good idea (in case I wish to change them again).
From my POV, Monaco skin should use default template, if there is no custom Monaco-sidebar for a particular wiki. If custom Monaco-sidebar is defined, it should be used for any language unless it's defined for particular language (i.e. there is no Monaco-sidebar/en for English, Monaco-sidebar/ru for Russian, etc). The same is for Monaco-toolbox. --GrAnd 17:57, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
