Hello,

Is it possible that i can close my wiki to public? I only want registrated users to participate in my Wiki...

This is not possible.--GodPray  19:43,12/8/2011
Okay.. That sucks. Thanks anyways. —This unsigned comment is by Mike Terpstra (wallcontribs). Please sign your comments by adding "~~~~" in the source editor.
It is possible, as with the Justin Bieber Wiki (it's editing is closed off to all except for admins), however the reason is probably because of haters. (Like me, but I'm not a vandal, though.) If your wiki is in exceptional danger of vandalism and even the VSTF can't handle it then the wiki can be locked down. Wikia is meant to be collaborative. --..Jeff (Talk!) (Contribs!) (Email!) Jeff, JB wiki is not closed off to all but admins. It is closed to unregistered users, but since that wiki is not being edited a lot anymore, that locking should be removed.
It is only for really good reasons that you can lock a wiki for being registered users only. Use Special:Contact for the staff to help you out on that one.
Regarding your disclaimer: You should know that with using the fair use policy on your wiki and explaining that you use the content to discuss it openly you are abiding the law, and it is highly unlikely that you will ever get into trouble with it. Use {{Fairuse}} and declare sources being specific about which book, or other sources you used to get the information, and you will be good. The fair use template also has some nice examples on how to do it too, like here, here and here. Fair use declaration is best used at the bottom of the page for text, and at the page of the picture upload for pictures.
You can protect each page on the wiki one by one. Or as many as you need. But not all of the pages at once. I believe there are wiki farms that allow "private" wikis where you have more control. Another possibility is that you can install the MediaWiki software (it is free), or have it installed by someone, and then you have total control. Of course you may have to pay monthly fees for your hosting. ----Timeshifter (talk) 23:22, December 13, 2011 (UTC)
On the iCarly Wiki, Only registered users can comment on the wiki. Is there anyway that we can do that? DenaliLoverI freaking love the Denalis! 16:37, January 6, 2012 (UTC)
You cannot close your wiki off to unregistered contributors. Exceptions are made for extreme cases of constant vandalism and spam but not just because you do not like unregistered contributors.--GodPray  17:49,1/6/2012
Godisme, that God thing is going to your head. If only registered users can comment on a particular wiki, then your reply sounds idiotic to me. I suggest someone else check out why the iCarly Wiki has made it so that only registered users can comment. ----Timeshifter (talk) 23:19, January 6, 2012 (UTC)
Timeshifter, I suggest you read my post next time before you insult me and call me an idiot. Had you bothered to read my post, you would have read "Exceptions are made for extreme cases of constant vandalism". iCarly wiki had large amounts of spam and vandalism and thus anons were blocked for a time. I also know that they move protect and lock some of their pages as well.--GodPray  23:22,1/6/2012
Comments on a wiki are just one type of editing. By the way, an idiotic comment does not necessarily make you an idiot. If this were true, then my occasional idiotic comments would make me an idiot. I don't think so. Some others might think so. :) ----Timeshifter (talk) 03:29, January 7, 2012 (UTC)
I don't think exceptions are only made for cases of extreme vandalism. Demonstrating strong community support for disallowing anonymous edits would probably also do the trick. -- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 11 Jan 2012 4:59 PM Pacific
I am looking at this iCarly page, and I see that the comments at the end of the page are all from registered users. Is it possible to allow only registered users to comment at the bottom of articles, but to allow unregistered users to edit the articles? ----Timeshifter (talk) 07:13, January 12, 2012 (UTC)
Yes, it's possible - but I don't think these exceptions are made much -- RandomTime 07:22, January 12, 2012 (UTC)
