Okay. So I've got a template, which for ease uses {{{1}}}, {{{2}}} codes. Within these codes, sometimes <br>s are used. I just went on today and realised every time I have used this code now is broken, showing a {{{2}}}. This template is a template I use when posting a message so I ain't going through to change them all. Why has it only NOW started doing anything, and if there's a reason, does it still need to interrupt the code? The error might be in the template code not wanting to be compatible, but there's still no further reason as it worked before. --I Lion Heart I 18:53, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, and this is Wikia wide. It's wreaking havoc with our Quotes of the Day at Wookieepedia Enochf 20:17, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
- BTW, I'd appreciate if this could be corrected before 10/10/08. Our Quote of the Day for that day uses a <br> to display properly Enochf 20:35, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
- Might be related to Forum:MediaWiki_1.13_upgrade which links to info on new preprocessor? --JohnBeckett 00:38, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
- A wild guess: when that happens to me, the cause is often an = sign in the template call. Instead of calling it {{template|data 1|data 2}}, try {{template|data 1|2=data 2}} for where it breaks - then data 2 can contain = signs, and the template still works. --◄mendel► 02:13, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
- I do that all the time with code interference issues. This time it's a NEW issue. This means that all PAST uses when it wasn't an interference are now shown as {{{2}}}. It's a common thing for me to use the <br> codes because I usually type messages more than a paragraph long. Just what I do. So as a very active wikian with over 10000 contributions at said wiki. Not fun. Also not noting I use the same codes at four OTHER wikis, one where I also have over 10000 contributions. Great fun. --I Lion Heart I 16:48, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
- There was a similar error on the diablo wiki (see w:c:diablo:Template talk:Unique, but it seems to have gone away on its own (wikia code change?). Maybe that was related to the <b> </b> tags, and you also should really be using <br />. Is it still happening anyplace you can see? --◄mendel► 07:05, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
- I think it is fixed now.. :p I Lion Heart I 11:49, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
- I think it's back again... --I Lion Heart I 19:30, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

We know of the issue and are investigating. The quick fix is to switch to the new parser, but that isn't ideal for wikis who haven't tested it a great deal yet. Kirkburn talk contr 01:04, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
