I've noticed that since the Wikia-wide implementation of the new editing window feature, different users have been saving edits with a few strange things in common. First, additional spaces are added between the equals-signs and the header text; second, the blank line below one section that used to separate it visually in the edit window from the next section disappears; third, any blank lines that existed between the end of the content and the categories listed at the bottom disappear too. (There might be another thing, too, but I'm not quite sure about it.) Those strange alterations to articles don't seem to be the intentional work of the editors, as anonymous IPs as well as a few regular contributors are doing it all of a sudden. Is there any chance this is a result of the new feature? Blue Rook 08:10, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

Can you give links to some diffs ? — TulipVorlax 12:06, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
Sure: 1, 2, 3. One of the most disconcerting parts of this phenomenon is that all the interwiki language links at the bottom are deleted, and the custom category alphabetization schemes are lost when these people edit. Such behavior isn't consistent with the way some of these editors have contributed in the past, so I don't think they're doing it intentionally or even mistakenly. I think it's something with the new feature. It may not seem like much, but it's extremely annoying to have to restore the language links, fix the categories, and repair the spacing. Any help would be much appreciated! Blue Rook 17:27, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
This is related to the Help:New editor. I had not come across the interwiki bug, but the others are currently known. I will chase them up. Kirkburn  talk  contr  @Wikia  20:18, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
Thanks a bunch Kirkburn. The editor otherwise seems to be an excellent feature. I'm positive that new users will have an excellent time editing with it.
To be clear and precise, I'll list the issues that come to mind individually, regardless of how small:
— 1) Categories are stripped of any alphabetization components, including the pipe
— 2) Interwiki language links at the bottom of the page disappear
— 3) The space between the end of a section and a new heading disappears
— 4) Two spaces appear beneath a new heading and its first paragraph
— 5) In a heading, such as == Heading 2 ==, additional spaces are randomly appearing between "Heading 2" and the equals signs
— 6) Any blank lines that separate categories at the bottoms of the pages are disappearing
I hope this helps! And, for the annoying but inevitable question: any ideas on a timeline for a fix? Blue Rook 22:15, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the various reports:
  1. Known, being worked on (annoys me too!).
  2. As above.
  3. If that's specifically between bullet points and a heading: also known.
  4. I've not seen that one, will check it out. Edit: ah, this one is on the list too :)
  5. Just been fixed (fix may already be live).
  6. This may be unavoidable, but will bring it up.
Timeline-wise: most should be done over the next week. Apologies for the annoyance they may cause :) Kirkburn  talk  contr  @Wikia  17:33, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
