I do all my web browsing with the browser Opera. (Currently using version 9.23 on Windows XP.) Sometime in the last two or three days, I've begun having frequent "edit conflict" warnings in my work on the Transformers wikia. I would guess that 75% or more of my edits give me the conflict warning. However, none of these warnings have been true -- no one else was working on the articles at the time. Nobody else on the TF wiki seems to have encountered this problem so I suspect it's Opera-specific. Was there a change to the software recently that might have brought this bug up? --Steve-o 01:11, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
- Some things I can think of:
- Do you often save incrementally? That is, do you click [save], and then click [back] to continue editing? (this isn't likely, as a user shouldn't edit conflict with themselves)
- Are you sure you're consistently logged in?
- Does it happen if you disable JS?
- Sparkla, are you subscribed to the mailing list? This is the thread about it:
- [Wikia-l] False edit conflicts

All but two of the last eight pages I have edited on Genealogy in the last couple of hours have advised of an edit conflict, when subsequent examination of the page history showed that nobody else had been near the page since long before I opened it. I've not checked other sites. They were working fine before I restarted my PC.

I'm experiencing the same problems. It's frustrating, because, you must copy the text on the bottom edit box to the top edit box to save your changes. New contributors wouldn't notice that and their edit won't be saved.

I noticed that, when editing a section of an article, the "Summary" field is empty, instead of showing the heading of the section being edited. And is in this case when happens the false edit conflict :(

Maybe other related issue. Although I'd set in my preferences to preview the article when editing an article (after hit the edit link, without need of hit the preview button), since the edit conflict problem the preview doesn't show. The preview button works as before.
I have the same issues, (I'm Jesús Martínez :) ) and I have JS and cookies enabled (in w:c:es.pokemon). The edit conflict appears also when editing an article and saving without any change (a null edit). I have edit conflicts on EVERY page save, except, of course, for page creation. It seems to happen only in main and Forum: namespaces. PS: I got an edit conflict when saving THIS page also :( --Ciencia Al Poder (talk) -WikiDex 18:13, 8 October 2007 (UTC) PS2: I surf the web with Firefox 2.0.0.7 and the issues described (edit summary, preview) are not client-side but server-side. --Ciencia Al Poder (talk) -WikiDex 18:28, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
Similar issue on Traveller Wikia: The last few articles that I have changed end up in edit conflicts with the original article above, and my article below, there are no edits by anyone else, and the last edit in the history (for the most recent case ligim sector) shows a last edit from April. Has anyone else seen this? Dcorrin 16:35, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
I didn't see it last night during my editing session. Tjoneslo 18:03, 5 October 2007 (UTC) Dan, are you still seeing these edit conflicts? There are others who are also seeing the same problem on other wiki. If you could go to the wikia forum and add any details, it would help them fix the problem. :w:Forum:Erroneous "edit conflicts" in Opera browser Tjoneslo 14:33, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
I have the same issue... as a matter of fact, it is happening on this page as I try to edit it....--Sstefan 00:27, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
