Is it possible to expand the book source list special page to include local variants of Amazon? I sent email to Angela about this (with the site addreses} but didnt get a reply. It was the time Wikia was set up so I wasn't surprised. Amazon.co.uk etc is more helpful to those of us not living in the States and the prices etc are more relevent.Lifeartist 14:06, 12 June 2006 (UTC) Is anyone thinking about this?Lifeartist 17:36, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

Sounds good. Can you give a list of the ones you think should be included? -- sannse (talk) 15:57, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
heres a copy of the email I sent Angela.
Can you arrange for Amazon international bookshops to be added to the list

below please.

For a book with ISBN e.g. 0131103628, Special:Booksources/0131103628 gives the text of MediaWiki:Booksourcetext and links regarding the book according to the value of $wgBookstoreListEn in Language.php, currently:

/* private */ $wgBookstoreListEn = array(

       "AddALL" => "http://www.addall.com/New/Partner.cgi?query=$1&type=ISBN",
       "PriceSCAN" => "http://www.pricescan.com/books/bookDetail.asp?isbn=$1",
       "Barnes & Noble" => "http://shop.barnesandnoble.com/bookSearch/isbnInquiry.asp?isbn=$1",
       "Amazon.com" => "http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ISBN=$1"

);

Assuming the form is the same I've done the code for you to put into the array. Colaborative working - I love it!

"Amazon.co.uk" => "http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ISBN=$1"
"Amazon.co.jp" => "http://www.amazon.co.jp/exec/obidos/ISBN=$1"
"Amazon.fr" => "http://www.amazon.fr/exec/obidos/ISBN=$1"
"Amazon.de" => "http://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/ISBN=$1"
"Amazon.ca" => "http://www.amazon.ca/exec/obidos/ISBN=$1"
"Amazon.at" => "http://www.amazon.at/exec/obidos/ISBN=$1"
"Joyo.com" => "http://www.Joyo.com/exec/obidos/ISBN=$1"

The last one is the chinese site.

Are you guys on clickthrough money and % of purchases? Because if the psychology wiki takes off you will be rolling in it. The plan is to link all significant books in psychology (via their reference) to these sites because of the extra information they provide. Its bound to generate traffic and sales.

Hope thats useful.Lifeartist 22:09, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks, that's very useful. As far as I know, we are not on clickthroughs for Amazon... maybe we shoud be :) -- sannse (talk) 08:32, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
You can add this yourself on your wiki by editing Project:Book sources. Angela (talk) 14:20, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
I've tried to get the code to work without success. Could someone have a look at w:c:psychology:Psychology Wiki:Book sources and fix it for me please. The links were taking us to the bookstores, but its not picking up the ISBN numbers and going to the actual book page as it did before. ThanksLifeartist 21:18, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
You just add links to the additional book stores, replacing the field for the ISBN with MAGICNUMBER. (if I understand your intent right) --Splarka (talk) 11:41, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
