Is it possible to forbid all unregistered or registered users to edit a wiki?

I know there's a protect option, but is there anything else?

This is not allowed.--GodPray  00:16,2/14/2012
It's not allowed? How so? Why?Sand Spirit 11:54, February 14, 2012 (UTC)
Wikia's Wiki Creation Policy expressly states that wikis must be open for anyone to view and edit -- RandomTime 11:55, February 14, 2012 (UTC)
Sure, I understand that, but no one knows what is my wikia about. It's about a game, unpopular one, tho. But, the admins are me and that game's story writer. So, that wikia is created just to expand player's view on it's storyline, nothing more, nothing less. I want to forbid everyone to edit it because of vandalism. I don't know how to rollback the unwanted changes, that's the first reason. The second reason is: members have no reason to edit the wikia because they don't know anything about it, it's up to story writer to write all the things.
I hope you understand now.--Sand Spirit 12:05, February 14, 2012 (UTC)
Wikia doesn't offer a private wiki service, if you want these features, you might want to investigate another wiki hosting company, or install MediaWiki on a server that you own -- RandomTime 12:51, February 14, 2012 (UTC)
Nope. It's not private. It's just for viewing not editing. But, oh well, I'll make it editable if needed.
How to rollback unwanted changes?--Sand Spirit 13:03, February 14, 2012 (UTC)

On Special:Recentchanges on your wiki, [rollback] links appear at the end of each change line. You can also go the history of any page (go the My Tools menu at the bottom and click on "History"), where you can find undo and rollback links beside each change entry. If someone edits my wiki, are changes visible instantly? If so, can I set all changes not visible until I or any admin aproves them? Sand Spirit 14:50, February 14, 2012 (UTC)
I don't think you have to go that far... if I come on your wiki and correct some grammar or code errors I don't think you won't mind, as I understood you want to manage the content by yourself (though remember that you don't own the wiki so you cannot ban whoever comes there). You should just check the edits, speak with the other users and undo the edits you think are not correct like in every wiki. Beside if you say you topic is unpopolar most likely very few editor will come to your wiki. leviathan_89 14:58, 14 February, 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, that's the most important thing, if nobody's looking at it, nobody will change it, and you can just check RecentChanges once in a while to make sure of that. Changes are visible instantly -- RandomTime 15:01, February 14, 2012 (UTC)

If your wiki's topic is one that nobody will know about, then you can simply undo the edits that add information to the article that is not correct. Any other editors willing to edit your pages should be considered a godsend, as it is highly unlikely that one person can manage an entire wiki by himself without making any mistakes. If you don't want anyone to edit, maybe find a preferably free website host and make a website on that. ---****--- Roads 15:20,2/14/2012
I don't think it is a wiki you want. A wiki is a free online encyclopedia that anyone can edit. You would be better off just making a website.--GodPray  16:37,2/14/2012
Why don't you try this? Dragon.jpg Skål! 07:02, February 17, 2012 (UTC)
That particular site appears to be overusing classes and inline ECMAScript 262 (Javascript). TK999 13:57, February 17, 2012 (UTC)
