Hi everybody,

Our wiki, Nonciclopedia, was attacked this morning by a vandal known in some wikis (wikipedia too), because he moves user pages with a bot. Because of his methods, it could be very useful to be able to ban and block pages with a regular expression. Is it possible?

I'll explain better the problem: this vandal uses usernames of the form "something planante something" or names containing the word "leonida", and moves pages form "User:username" to "User:username planante username", with all subpages and discussions. It's a pain to revert all his edits, this morning I had to delete about 200 redirects. With a regular expression I can just block all usernames containing "planante" and "Leonida", and block all pages containing the word "planante". MFH 13:27, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

Extension:Title Blacklist can be used to do this, but that extension isn't currently installed on Wikia. SUL 17:29, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
i don't think that it is an good idea, because this vandal can change vandalism name and the blacklist will fail. oops, i misunderstood blacklist text...{{subst:utente:Marcopete87/firma1}} 17:38, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

SUL, what makes you think its not installed at Wikia? --Uberfuzzy@Wikia 19:21, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

This extension seems to be exactly what I was looking for. Great! So Uberfuzzy, can you assure me this extension is already installed? Because I can't find it in Special:Version. --MFH 20:36, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
It's not listed at Special:Version, so the extension is not installed. Since the vandal could simply change the location that the pages are moved to, it might be more effective to use Extension:AbuseFilter to throttle page moves by new users. The Abuse filter is currently installed on communitytest.wikia.com. SUL 21:07, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
So what's the conclusion about this extension? --MFH 12:55, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
I think it could be pretty usefull if local admin could create a list of blacklisted titles on local wikis since too often i see users create pages that i have to delete because not even related to the wiki subject.
The last one was a page named "Salut" (wich mean "Hi" in french) that i redirected to the general forum over there instead of deleting. — TulipVorlax 02:06, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

New vandal

In the last 6 days a vandal is registering continuously on our wiki and deletes every content of some pages, as quick as he can, until one of the admins bans him. It's very annoying, from the early afternoon until midnight it vandalizes our wiki. We tried to block the site, but the day after he was again there. It's becoming a nightmare, and we have better things to do than reverting every edit and banning this idiot. Blocking the site is useless, and is even worse, because we can lose lots of good edits from unregistered users.
So what I'm asking is if it is possible to install an extension that blocks every edit of unregisterd and non-autoconfimed users, if these edits are emptying a page or similar, or develop it if it doesn't still exist. We are temporarily trying to develop something in javascript, but I'm not sure it will work. --MFH 13:47, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

I think the best thing for you to do at this stage is to use Special:Contact, if you haven't already. That way, the matter can be more appropriately dealt with. All we can offer you is sympathy. :( Wjxhuang, the 888th Avatar {Talk} 14:02, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
We already contacted the staff, I just hoped that maybe someone could have done this for the staff in the meanwhile, or could have suggested some already existing extensions. More people knowing the problem -> (hopefully) quicker solution. :) --MFH 15:06, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
