I was wondering how do you make a site-wide notice, or a message that everyone will receive?--♥DarthCookie♥♥Talk♥ 04:01, October 7, 2010 (UTC)

Wikia has stated that creating a sitenotice like the old one is against the Terms of Use. They encourage admins to use the "Community Corner" at Special:WikiActivity to communicate with editors. Gardimuer { ʈalk } 04:42, October 7, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks you for the heads up, though I loved the old way of site-wide notices.--♥DarthCookie♥♥Talk♥ 08:02, October 8, 2010 (UTC)

  • When you edit the community corner (MediaWiki:Community-corner), anyone active up to 24 hours after you edit it will receive a notification (a blue one, just like talk page messages) saying that the community corner has been updated. This notification will disappear either when dismissed or once 24 hours have passed since the community corner was updated. You can see more about that here). - Brandon Rhea(talk) 16:25, October 8, 2010 (UTC)
    • Since the Community corner is the new "site-wide" notice, then would I like to request it be accessible as a widget or RSS feed so I can put it on the main page without having to editing that when the corner message changes.
On smaller wikis, like Canaanpedia, is 24 hours simply too short a time and hiding it under WikiActivity which a very small number of users/readers visit limits it usage further.
On Canaanpedia is both a skin adaptation and restructure in progress, so attracting new users and/or comments is a vital element to complete these tasks. You may have thought it should be limited to active editors, but I find that too limited.
As a long time reader, have I never viewed Recent changes unless there was some sort of message indicating a need for it. I still use a wiki like an encyclopedia - to look up information about a certain topic without worrying about how, who or when the information is/came from, unless its relevant to the topic.
In short, I want a way to communicate news to all readers and editors, ideally regardless which page they visit, but main page is an acceptable alternative. -- Jeahra 13:42, October 9, 2010 (UTC)

24 hours is a very short period of time, you should make it 72 hours.--♥DarthCookie♥♥Talk♥ 05:49, October 11, 2010 (UTC)
