I'm based in Japan and using a Japanese computer, so when I visit the Wikia home page I am presented with Japanese. This is fine, but my kanji-reading is not too hot so I'd like to view the page in English, but when I click on "English", I'm just presented with the Japanese page again. Can somebody fix this please? Bobo12345 02:37, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

Does it also happen when you have javascript disabled? Does it change the URL? --Splarka (talk) 04:16, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

I disabled JavaScript and it still behaves the same way. The URL doesn't change. It's always http://www.wikia.com/wiki/%E3%82%A6%E3%82%A3%E3%82%AD%E3%82%A2. Bobo12345 04:24, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

Ahh, hmm, english should take you to Wikia (www.wikia.com/wiki/Wikia ), does it not? --Splarka (talk) 04:45, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

When I hover my mouse over the link, it does indeed point to www.wikia.com/wiki/Wikia but when I click it instantaneously goes to the Japanese page. Bobo12345 05:31, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

This is a fairly recent change by the way. I'm sure this wasn't happening the other day. Bobo12345 05:33, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

Hmm, this is probably on purpose then. What 'header' information do you get when you try Web sniffer? What happens when you input http://www.wikia.com/wiki/Wikia for a URL in the web sniffer and submit it? --Splarka (talk) 05:49, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

I get the following:

Interestingly, I just tried it out on my own home computer running English-language Windows XP (this computer is Japanese-language Win XP) and it worked fine - I could switch between Japanese and English versions of the site no problem... Bobo12345 06:49, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

Well, okay, same is happening to some polish users. Seems to be something some dev somewhere is trying out. Will point them here. --Splarka (talk) 07:41, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

Thanks Splarka. Bobo12345 07:50, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

A similar thing is happening to me. My interface is set to Swedish, and MediaWiki:Mainpage/sv is set to 'Huvudsida', so when I enter wikia.com I'm redirected to Huvudsida instead of Wikia. – Smiddle 10:41, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

On the Forum: Watercooler, Angela has just announced this as a new feature. You should go to Help:Home page redirection for updates or post a note on the Watercooler formun asking this same question. Tjoneslo 17:48, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

This seems to have solved the problem with the Japanese Wikia. Bobo12345 01:49, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
