Wikis not under GFDL
Edit
- Wikis not under GFDL are not affected by this license update.
- Lostpedia (some languages - should probably be all? Need to clarify)
- Memory-Alpha (all)
- Uncyclopedia (english, czech, french)
Exceptions
Edit
- WikiFur (some languages) will be handled separately
- http://fr.guildwars.wikia.com/ will stay GFDL to ensure compatibility with an external wiki they want to translate (assuming that wiki does not switch to GFDL before August 1st 2009)
Requests to opt-out
Edit
- Please post in this section with full details of why a wiki needs to stay GFDL.
Memory Alpha (ja)
Edit
- Hopefully just a minor clarification, I think it should be "all languages", not some, for Memory Alpha? -- Cid Highwind 06:41, 18 June 2009 (UTC)
- That ought to be the case, but I need to check what's going on with the Japanese edition. The meta data is right, but it says GFDL in the footer. Angela

- This seems to be their version of Project:Copyrights - at least it is the link shown below all edit fields. The only thing I can make out is "CC-by-nc 2.5". For what it's worth, I also see a link to CC in the page footer - is that user setting dependent perhaps, although it shouldn't be? -- Cid Highwind 07:44, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

clubpenguinfanon.wikia
Edit
- Please opt out clubpenguinfanon. Please. Users get confused, and ll it is is pretty much rebranded GFDL with a fancy wrapper. We'd also have to recategorize and replace references to GFDL. --Zapwire Δ The dark side of the moon 09:55, 18 June 2009 (UTC)
- Does anyone on your wiki run a bot? That way, a bot can search for all references of GDFL and change them to CC-BY-SA where it matters. If not, you could get someone from the Central Wikia to do it for you. (I don't, I fail at bot.) I'd definitely recommend a switch, and I can help explain what the license is if your users will get confused. Wjxhuang, the 888th Avatar {Talk} 10:38, 18 June 2009 (UTC)
- No bots. We also heavily mix wikipedia content in, which is GFDL. --Zapwire Δ The dark side of the moon 13:52, 18 June 2009 (UTC)
- Wikipedia's organizing body is the one that requested the ability to change. See their outreach page. --GreenReaper(talk) 16:19, 18 June 2009 (UTC)
- You see, that's the problem. Wikipedia doesn't use GFDL anymore, so Wikia wikis need to to switch to CC-BY-SA to continue to be able to copy Wikipedia. I'd definitely recommend asking someone with a bot to help you. Of course it's your decision, I'm just laying out my view to try help you. Wjxhuang, the 888th Avatar {Talk} 13:57, 18 June 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, they do. They dual license until CC-by-SA content gets integrated into an article.--AB 12:48, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
- Good catch. Epic fail for me. Wjxhuang, the 888th Avatar {Talk} 12:53, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

civilization.wikia
Edit
I'm not in a position to make any requests on behalf of this wikia. However, pages there contain copies of a game manual that is currently multi-licensed as GPL/GFDL, and these copies were added to the wiki on or after 15 February 2009 (see [1]). Something might need to be worked out in this regard, first. -- Cid Highwind 12:22, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for finding that. Let's delay this one a bit until that's worked out. I expect a template on the relevant pages explaining that they are under a different license would work. Angela

fr.guildwars
Edit
Is it to late to revert the link in the footer on that wiki ? I must have misread the way to op-out of this... Sorry. — TulipVorlax 22:50, 20 June 2009 (UTC)
- It's broken for all wikis. I've fixed it for fr.guildwars, which is on the exceptions list above already and is not changing license. Angela

- In English, either is correct but MediaWiki tends to use Project:Copyrights by default. The French Wikipedia use Project:Droit d'auteur instead. I can set it to whatever you like. The redirect from copyrights was just added because it had that word stuck in the cache and wouldn't update. :) Angela
