This is probably a place to suggest something to add, right? Anyway, when someone edits someones talk page they get a message no matter what the case. IMO, if someone minor edits someones talk page, it should not count as a new message. So if I were to edit something I wrote, they would have the one message, and if someone was doing gnome work, like I do a lot (fixing links - and yes, I do it no matter the namespace) then they won't be alerted they have a new message, and then get annoyed when they do not. Could this be done? --I Lion Heart I 21:28, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

This option exists already; the nominornewtalk right defines this. Bots have it by default, but normal users don't. SPQRobin 21:38, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
This would require me to learn more about MediaWiki, no? And would I have to be an admin? Also, another thought came upon me, how minor edits bump forum topics. I do linking to maintain the wikis more than because it links to the wrong place. May there be a way for this too? And as it applies for everyone, cannot it just be set by default? --I Lion Heart I 12:15, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
No need for you to learn more about Mediawiki because only Wikia staff can "play" with user rights (and groups rights) and i dont think it is currently Wikia's priority to fiddle with thoses. — TulipVorlax 20:26, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
If you do gnome work a lot, you could make a new account and have that account flagged as a bot if you can get your admins to ask wikia for that. Then any edits you do from that account won't show in Recent Changes by default (though they can be shown if you want) because they are marked as bot edits. Some wikis have policies in place to ensure that bot edits are done in accordance with community consensus, because the half-hiding makes them sort of fly "under the radar". You can't turn the bot flag on and off from your preferences, so it wouldn't be practical to have your regular account run as bot - you could never make a talk page edit that alerts a user. --◄mendel► 05:13, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
