Hi there! I belong to the new Pirates of the Burning Sea Wiki - we just got moved here. I'm still finding my way around, but I did notice a problem:
In our NPC section (the mission contacts ingame) we have quite a lot of names containing special characters, mostly those with an accent on it (e.g. Bartlomé, Plácido, etc). The article names for these entries all got broken during the move. Example: Bartolomé Buolo (consequently, all links to these pages are now broken as well)
Now when I entered a new contact containing one of these special chars, it worked just fine (see: Audrés Ballin), so we could just fix the problem by simply re-adding all affected pages. But I thought I'd check here first to see if there's a quick(er) fix for this that you're aware of.
Thanks! -- Ailar 16:14, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
- Oh no! No that... We, at fr.guildwars.wikia, had this situation in our previous home, after a move to a new hosting. Then, our sole bureaucrate went lost in nature...
- I hope they can find a solution.
- Maybe the DB was imported wrongly. — TulipVorlax 20:51, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
This has happened before, when the German Uncyclopedia moved here. It's an issue of mixing different character sets (Unicode vs. an older ISO standard). Probably best at this point to let Wikia try to fix it, presumably as some form of search-and-replace or character set conversion.
- I have reported this issue to our tech team. I'll have more information for you soon. -- JaeSharp 22:57, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
