In browsing the Categories, I've noticed that a great many, perhaps even the majority, of linked wikis are depressingly under-maintained, with no recent changes in the last 30 days. So my idea/proposal is this: there should be a team/"committee", equivalent to Wikipedia's WikiProjects, whose primary task is to "rejuvenate" these stranded wikis by figuring out how to contact the creators and admins and letting them know that people can be sent to help out with anything that needs done, or to suggest what the wiki might be doing to better serve its purpose (with various categories, templates, publicizing, etc). What do y'all think? -- Lenoxus 14:31, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

Well, it appears that such a thing already exists in the form of Category:Adopt this wiki. So I guess the only real difference would be adding teamwork -- if we not only say, "adopt these wikis" but "figure out which experts might be best able to help out", that would be the best. -- Lenoxus (This isn't working!/¡No funciona!) 14:35, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
Why not just adopt any Wiki you are good with. I've already adopted 4 and started a project that may bring contributors to even more Wikia in the area. Though my best specialty is making a wiki more inviting and comfortable for editors to stay in. But The Gaiapedia did improve a lot in my first 3 months. ~Dantman(talk) tricks Mar 24, 2007 @ 15:00 (UTC)
I thought that was what Collaboration of the month is all about... --LordTBT Talk! 23:47, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
Hmm, good thoughts and points, all. I guess... I guess my real issue, the thing that doesn't seem to be properly addressed, is that not each of us has the expertise in the requisite area; in fact, that would almost by definition be the minority of us for any given topic. I haven't gone to the Yu-gi-oh wiki (currently featured, I believe) because I don't know anything about Yu-gi-oh. So what I'm trying to figure ut is if there's a way to directly contact experts in a field, and if not, how to implement a project or group that would do that. And of course I'm personally adopting as many Wikis as I can; I'm thinking more in terms of spreading the effort, since it takes every one of us. -- Lenoxus (This isn't working!/¡No funciona!) 17:25, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
Sudden thought: Is there a userbox or similar template for someone to say "I'm willing to help X-related wikias? -- Lenoxus (This isn't working!/¡No funciona!) 17:26, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
Merging inactive wikias with ative ones from similar fields might be a good idea also.--Rataube 17:27, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

Ooh, wikimerger! I like the sound of it... tell me more! -- Lenoxus (This isn't working!/¡No funciona!) 17:31, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

Well, if wikis aren't active, they can become part of a bigger wiki. For example, a wiki about a certain game, could become part of a wiki about games (in general). --Leon:2323 | SMARTSIG | Contribs 21:51, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
Or a more general wiki could branch out and use other existing wikia to give more detail on it's subjects. That's the basis of my project. Sometime later I'll be incorperating a few more inactive wikia into the project. CCS, Gundam, and Manga appear to be inactive and well fit into the project. ~Dantman(talk) tricks Mar 25, 2007 @ 22:46 (UTC)
