I noticed that a new feature, 'Suggest similar articles,' was added to Wikia, suggesting articles for users to edit after they edit something on a wiki. As a wiki administrator, I would like to know how to improve the results of the suggested articles. What is the criteria for an article to be "similar?" --TarrVetus 02:33, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
- I've noticed that too, and it seems to be throwing up articles that are connected to the article you just edited via links. I think the general idea is that if you edit article X, then article Y that refers to article X, might no longer be correct.David Shepheard 18:43, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
- articles are considered similar, if they belong to the same category as the edited article. And if they also belong to a category defined as a "stub category" specifically for this extension (in MediaWiki:EditSimilar-Categories). If there are no articles from "stubs" sharing the same category as the one you edited, articles will be selected randomly from those "stub categories" (but not labeled as "similar"). You can also check this page for reference. - BartL 10:46, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
There is a help page on this feature at Help:EditSimilar. Hope it explains things a little more clearly! — Catherine (talk) 02:06, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
I'd say those explanations are pretty comprehensive. Thanks!
