hi

i just wanted to ask something. as you know, wikimedia supports svg very well. but now i tried to use an external css for formating my svg graphic. you can whatch it here [1]. you will see that there are two ^green shapes with a red rollover effect. theese colors are defined here [2]. but in wikimedia it looks like this [3]

it seems that the wm-generated thumbnail dosnt support css links in svg-files. but this could be very usefull for layout objects or icons in our wiki. is there a possiblity to use an external css file for svgs in our wiki--Shisma Bitte korrigiert mich 17:35, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

CSS in SVG is something I have never seen used before. In fact, Firefox, IE, and Inkscape all either don't recognize the use of CSS in that SVG, or consider it misformatted and spit out a fatal error. But you half to remember how MediaWiki uses SVG's. SVG images are converted to PNG's and then served out to the browser. SVG's cannot be actually used in a page because there is very little browser support for them. Because they are converted, style sheets, scripts, animated effects, and rollovers can't be brought along in the conversion. It's a technical impossibility. (PS: The software is MediaWiki. WikiMedia is the NPO which hosts Wikipedia, etc... Not to be confused with the Company Wikia, Inc. Which hosts the wiki here) ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) (tricks) (current topic) Aug 22, 2007 @ 07:17 (UTC)
