The community messages is a place on the wiki, part of the Wiki Activity page, that allows admins to highlight things that are important for the community to know. This space can be used to organize a project, show off new pages, or highlight an ongoing discussion, among many other things admins are sure to think of.

Step-by-StepEdit

• The community messages is located on the Wiki Activity page; a link to Wiki Activity can be found on any page in the upper right hand corner.

• The community corner can be edited only by admins.

• This can be accessed, as an admin, by going to the community corner and clicking on the "edit message."

• This will bring you to the MediaWiki:Community-corner page where you can edit the content.

• Admins can add as much information as they want to this page, but the simpler the message the better. Editors, readers, and potential future editors are much more likely to read the community corner if it has short, concise messages.

• Once the update to the page is finished, you can click "Save page" to make your edits appear. You may want to click "Preview" first, just to double-check and make sure that it looks the way you want it to.

• Your changes to the page should appear immediately. Users who are active on the wiki up to 24 hours after the community corner is changed will receive a notification about the change, similar to the notification for user talk page messages. These will disappear after 24 hours if not previously dismissed by the individual users.

Changing the notification message Edit

• When you submit a change to MediaWiki:Community-corner, all users on your wiki will receive a notification (like the one below outlined in red).

• If you would like to change this message (make it more tailored to the colloquialisms or jargon of your wiki's topic), you can edit: MediaWiki:Communitymessages-notice-msg
• Admins should be careful not to add to much to this page, as the simpler the message the better.
• The default wikitext content of this page is as follows:
