Thanks Edit

Minor nit, this should work in all namespaces, not only in namespace 0. Not checked, but if Wikia "nice work" is in essence the same as WikiMedia "Thanks", it can be improved:
It should be possible to send "thanks" to any user including bots, IPs, staff, etc. If there is a public "thank"-log there must be a privacy confirmation, otherwise it would be strictly illegal in major parts of the EU (IANAL). And, obviously, this can be abused for "thanks, but no thanks" campaigns, there must be a way to opt-out of thanks-notifications temporarily or permanently. –Dunnoob 💩 12:08, August 24, 2016 (UTC)

  1. Appreciation is available on all namespaces and can be sent to anyone, at least on RuneScape Wiki.
  2. There is no "public thank-log", as appreciations are only visible to the user being thanked. The help page clearly explains this: "Appreciation status is not currently displayed anywhere else on the site". Even if a log did exist, I'm not sure why you think it would be illegal.

Quick QuestionEdit

Does appreciation have to be enabled for it to appear on a wikia? Because I can see it on the Naruto Originals Wikia but not the Harry Potter OC wikia. If that is the case how does one go about doing this? Thank you for reading in advance! --Mewrlise (talk) 20:35, September 1, 2016 (UTC)

Judging by this line in Wikia codebase, it seems like a wiki needs to have Community Page enabled in order to have Appreciation enabled. So yes, if your wiki isn't in top 500 (or 5000, I forgot) you need to request it over Special:Contact/general. Cheers! -- Cube-shaped garbage can 20:41, September 1, 2016 (UTC)
