Namespaces for Semantic MediaWikiEdit

See http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension_namespace_registration - it reserves 100 to 109 for SMW & Semantic Forms and 170 and 171 for Filter (part of Semantic Drilldown). The "100" starting-point seems to be further confirmed by http://semantic-mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Configuration. I notice that some of our sites start at 302. Shouldn't we follow MediaWiki.org whenever practicable? — Robin Patterson (Talk) 06:21, 17 May 2009 (UTC)

Probably. I'm rather curious to find out what SMW reserves 100-109 for? Also, what wikis start at 302? For the most part, 110 and 111 are for forum/forum_talk, and we try to start any new requested custom ones at 112. there might be a handful of older wikis that have some 100-109 still. --Uberfuzzy@fandom 08:46, 17 May 2009 (UTC)
SMW has 102 Property, 104 Type, 106 Form, 108 Concept; that numbering is observed by Referata, Richmond.org, and Jewage.org, for example. Wikia's biggest users of SMW seem to have 302, 304, 306, and 308 for those, and 370 for Filter; see Third Age, GIKI, Yu-Gi-Oh, Familypedia, and probably Ragnarok2. (MediaWiki.org clouds the picture by using 102 for Extension. I've asked a couple of questions there, about 102.) — Robin Patterson (Talk) 13:43, June 9, 2010 (UTC)

Change?Edit

Can I change the {{ns:project}} on my wikia, and if I can, how can I do it? Dekac 19:25, September 4, 2009 (UTC)

Project pages are the sitename, use Special:Contact, and ask them to change your namespace, or ask them to add a custom namespace with a name you want. Tedjuh10 - Talk 23:21, September 4, 2009 (UTC)

Top 10 list namespacesEdit

If a wiki admin goes to their Special:WikiFeatures on their wiki and turns on the Top 10 list for their wiki then they will get the following namespaces added to their wiki:

700 = Top 10 list
701 = Top 10 list talk

-- (M o r p h | C | T) 540 contributions and counting. 05:09, July 14, 2011 (UTC)

Use lua to generate the tables of namespacesEdit

I can see that this section is already out of date because it lacks the recently added module namespace. Rather than wasting time updating this over and over. I suggest that you use a simple module to generate this data:

for i,v in pairs(mw.site.namespaces) do
    print(i,v.name)
end

In fact lua could be used to keep a lot of these libraries up to date automatically.Dessamator (talk) 16:14, August 5, 2015 (UTC)

Deprecated Top 10 Namespace + ForumEdit

In the Namespaces added by default extensions section, {{ns:700}} & {{ns:701}} from the Top 10 Lists feature is still listed despite said feature being removed everywhere. Should it not be removed from the namespace list?

Also, it is written that “Note: It is suggested to now use the Forum tool instead.” Seeing as new Wikis have been prevented from enabling Forum, & indeed are also prevented from disabling Discussions, should that not instead suggest the use of Discussions over Forum?

I changed it now. Does it look okay now? -- Cube-shaped garbage can 22:16, June 23, 2017 (UTC)
Looks good, I just wasn’t sure if I’d be allowed to remove content meself ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Thanks.

LayersEdit

Is there a reason the following namespaces have not been added to the page? Layer (Namespace 420), and Layer talk (Namespace 421)?

Also the spaces where the names of the 400th and 401st namespaces on the help page have not been filled.

Since they don't seem to have been added to all wikis - I know my wiki certainly doesn't have those namespaces - and since I don't know what wikis do have those namespaces, I cannot add the names of those namespaces myself. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 04:09, July 4, 2017 (UTC)

I have added namespaces 420 and 421 to the table. Not sure about 400 and 401. noreplyz talk 12:51, June 11, 2017 (UTC) 08:48, July 4, 2017 (UTC)
400 ("Video") and 401 ("Video talk") belonged to the Video extension removed from the code 2 years ago. Probably not much point keeping them listed! - OneTwoThreeFall talk 10:03, July 4, 2017 (UTC)
