Links go to central Edit
The links to other tutorial sections point to Central Wikia instead of staying on the current wiki. That can be quite a pain/hassle/confusion for users who are first-time wiki users on a non-Central wikia. -Afker All hail AliceSoft! 22:00, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
- Aye this is true - the tutorial will be transferred here soon. Kirkburn (talk) 15:03, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
Wrong focus Edit
The content of this page has the wrong focus for first time editors. Although I respect that you want to educate readers about what Wikia is, most new users simply do not care. Since the advent of shared help, they're more likely to be viewing the tutorial from another wiki, further estranging them from Wikia itself. I think that as a starting point, first time editors would rather know what a wiki is, rather than what Wikia itself is.
Further, I don't think that the section about how to create an account is in any way helpful. It's really just condescending to hand walk new editors through each step of filling out a form. New editors are just that - new - not stupid. In some respects, the link to the create account page might be considered helpful, if not for the fact that Wikia openly identified that the big pushy buttons are very well picked up on by new users, and one is already used for the create account link.
Both of the first two paragraphs should be removed in favour of something that describes what a wiki is and encouraging users to edit. The third paragraph already has a bit of encouragement in it, but it could be expanded. As it is, I am reluctant to link anyone to the first page of this tutorial and am tempted to just link straight to the second page, which is the motivation for making these points about the errors in approach. --BBilge 00:56, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
