What do the numbers in the Top Referrers widget mean? For instance, if a site says 300 hits, does that mean 300 hits in a week? A day? Kimera 757 (talk) 04:07, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

Hi... Top Referrers is a list of sites that send the most traffic to your wiki. The associated number is hits for the last 30 days. Now, having said that... the # is cached so we don't do a lot of real-time data pulls from the db to get this on every page view... so it might not be exactly 30 days depending on when the cache data for this invalidates. Thanks. Johnq@fandom (talk) 18:28, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Shout Box issues Edit

I'm having trouble using the Shout Box, but my problems appeared only today.

I was exploring the other widgets from the carousel, I added a few but an interesting thing happened when I tried to change the limit for another widget. The shoutbox instantly folded up as if I had clicked its settings button, I tried again, carefully clicking on the Recent Changes widget's tool icon to change the limit and the shoutbox folded up again.

What's more, I had never had any problems with the shoutbox before I added these other widgets, when I try adding a message, the widget folds up and never rolls down again, same thing happens when I try changing the limit by clicking the icon.

Please Help! I use the Shout Box very very often so I'd be grateful for any help!!!

WikiPage Widget Edit

There is a limit as to how complex the markup code for a custom WikiPage widget can get before it fails to render correctly in the sidebar. Even if your markup renders correctly at MediaWiki:Widgetwikipage it does not render correctly in the Monaco sidebar's widget container.

 • This is not a simple byte count limitation.
 • It seems to depend on the complexity of the markup used.
 • Even characters inside an HTML comment block count toward this "threshold".
||Manage Favorites<br/>
[ Update this Page]<br/>
[ Printer Friendly]<br/>
Drilldown Data<br/>
[ Display Ads]<br/>
[ wikiaphone]<br/>
[ monobook]<br/>
[ monaco]<br/>
<div style="background-color:#EEE;padding:0.5em;">
<div style="clear:both;float:right;">Make a custom widget</div>

In the example markup code above removing the 8 characters on the last line (the HTML comment block) is enough to let the widget render correctly in the sidebar.

Searchbox does not render correctly in WikiPage widget Edit

When the searchbox special tag is used in a custom WikiPage widget the check boxes and labels are inappropriately center aligned and as a result consume vertical screen space when they should appears on the one line.

Of course this must be loaded into a WikiPage widget in the Monaco sidebar to see the problem.
An unsuitable style is being applied via:
specifically this one line:
.widget form input{margin:3px 0;width:170px}
in add the line
.widget form input{width:auto}

Idea for default message at MediaWiki:Widgetwikipage Edit

If the recently added section Help:Widgets#Create_a_custom_widget survives review then how about you consider revising the default MW message

This message is a simple test of WikiPage widget. You can edit content of widget by simply editing page in MediaWiki namespace.
