I was wondering if you were willing to start a new language community here at Fandom. I am a near fluent writer in Latin and I wanted to know if we could make that an "official community" (like with a Community Central) so we can go against "competitors" with fan content creation and content sharing. It could also help with the enhancement of internationality in the Fandom Community and expand the usage of Fandom as the community grows.
As per the heading name, does "Wikia Germany" still exist. I notice there is now "Wikia Japan", but don't ever here mentionings of Wikia Japan anymore. Second does the "International" program (outside of IVT) still in place to manage the international staff. Third is the German office still considered the "international hub" (I heard it used to be the place where all the european remote staff were managed) or at least over Europe?
Hi Superdadsuper - great that you're interested in our non-English/non-US setup! Wikia Germany is of course existing and doing quite well :-)
I built up our office in Cologne in 2012 and currently we have a good bunch of people working directly out of Cologne (and some staff members working remotely from Germany). While the biggest part of the Cologne crew is focussed on working on the Community side, we currently have people working in Germany from the Community, Marketing, Sales, and Sales Development department. I coordinate the ComDev International staff (including German, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Russian) in multiple locations from out of Cologne. If you want to take a small peak in our office, you can do so here.
The best way to learn about activities of Wikia Germany (or Wikia Japan or other regions) is to follow the staff blog posts on the local Community Centrals, as typically our activities are most interesting for the local user base. But it might also be a good idea to think about an English staff blog post highlighting our International activities.
Besides Wikia Cologne (and our headquarter in SF) we do have several other offices throughout the world. Our second largest office is our Polish office in Poznan, but we also have offices in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Tokyo, and London.
(Regarding Wikia Japan, there was just a great long article about Wikia in the Japanese version of WIRED.)
Could you demote User:TheseWoundsWillNotHeal, User:DevinMoffit2, User:SanicGee8 from being a bureaucrat, moderator, rollback and moderator in Peanuteegee Wikia, a hacker named "Oestrogen" had hacked into User:TheseWoundsWillNotHeal's account and spammed Peanuteegee Wikia, can you demote them before they can do some major damage.
We have already sent wikia staff an email about the troll but we figured it wouldn't hurt to send it on here. I understand waiting time is usually 1-2 business days, but this troll we are dealing with is getting out hand. They have made multiple accounts and adding pure spam to many pages in the wikia. We have since deleted those comments, but we don't know how they are are able to make new accounts. I honestly don't think we can wait that long anymore. This troll doesn't look like they will stop. Here they are:
I am at the Captain Wolf Wiki, and it locked me out of the CSS, but, just yesterday it allowed me to edit it? I am very confused and would like any help you can give on this.
Hello, i'm a user on the Geoshea's Lost Episodes Wiki. We have a very big spammer named JunHimekawa, he keeps insulting a user named StewieGabenGriffen and keeps swearing. He even got Stewie blocked across the wiki network once. I've been telling him to stop it but he's not listening, he keeps making spam pages too, and none of the admins are even blocking him. Can you please help us?
Well, you should either have to have your email confirmed, or ask someone else to send this message, as Staff prefer these things settled through Special:Contact, and they don't always look at messages on their walls.
