Hi Ryoga, You can remove your own avatar and profile information by editing it (just mouse over your own avatar and click "delete avatar", then mouse over the top of your profile and click "edit" to delete your content).
Let me know if those actions aren't working, or if there are other things you want deleted.
I've noticed that a lot of accounts have been disabled because they are under aged how about we have parents give the child permission to go online to this site and have an account
Hi! Unfortunately, we don't support that level of verification, so it's not an option at this time. We appreciate the suggestion, though. For now, we need to limit accounts to 13+.
ok it seemed to just work, but when i try to comment on other wikis, all it says is "Loading Editor" and it doesnt load, and all of the "reply" buttons turn gray and dont work.
the gallery on that page doesnt work either. and teh galleries look like a gray rectangle with a gray border with arrows on the side. when i click on the gallery, it doesnt expand teh slideshow.
I need help. Whenever I try to get on to the wiki chat, the page will not load. This happens for all the wikis I log on to. (mostly Call of Duty) What can I do to get it to work?
Hey there Dopp! This is just a minor question that I don't really need to know, but I'd like to, but how do you add a picture at the top of your message wall. Just like the one you've got, although yours is text. I'm just curious because I would like to add a picture to my message wall on the Glee Wiki. Thanks.
Once Message Wall is enabled, go to Message_Wall_Greeting:YOUR-USERNAME and create the page (for example, Dopp's is here). Then add whatever content you’d like, and it will appear at the top of your wall.
Get DPL or SMW installed on your wiki. Both allow auto-generation of articles within categories. To see an example of a DPL page, see this table generated list of quests. The brunt of the work is done with this DPL call seen here.
You can simply get DPL to give you a single bulleted list of pages in a category by only listing the category as seen here. If you edit that page, you will see the code is quite simplistic.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask me personally. Or add them here.
I'm here to challenge a ban I recently received on the SoNyuhShiDae Wiki. I went in and made a comment and the administrator and founder of the Wiki blocked me.
Wikia staff members have no authority over other wikis unless they are enforcing Wikia Terms of Use. If the users were breaking terms of use, leave a message here.
Hey Dopp, I've possibly found a glitch, the problem was that I couldn't edit, change my avatar or even comment. I think it might be another unsquashed bug from the mini-editor, I'm not so sure although. I wasn't able to contribute to any kind of wiki for about one to two weeks. Not sure how to send in bugs anyways. Thanks!
Hi! I have a problem. I know I can't discuss Global, blocks but my friend User:DaPeaShoota is globally banned. Me or any of his companions don't think he did antything; so could you please discuss it with him?
Hi Dr. Sonya, we generally don't remove bureaucrat rights unless the user has done something wrong or violated our Terms of Use -- it doesn't hurt anyone for a trusted member to maintain rights, so they can start helping again when they return. We recommend you just leave them be.
However, if they have done something wrong, or if there's a clear consensus from the community members (for a specific reason) that the rights should be removed, we can investigate further. Please contact us at Special:Contact with links to those details if you feel strongly about pursuing the issue.
Some wiki communities define spam as messages that don't have a lot of meaning, or take up space without contributing to the conversation. You may want to talk to them about what seems annoying to them so you can avoid falling into that situation.
It looks like you're both bureaucrats, so neither of you can be permanently blocked (it's easy to just unblock yourselves with that level of permissions). I strongly, strongly suggest that you call a truce and start getting along, because this kind of fighting doesn't benefit anyone. Ignore negative actions and go about your work editing the wiki.
If the situation is continuing, talk to other community members to try to work out a solution. If there's a consensus from the community about what the best solution is, get in touch with us via Special:Contact if you need our help. Good luck!
Wikia Staff can do that, but we only do so in the case of a clear consensus from the community, or blatant violations of our Terms of Use. A social dispute always has two sides, and we try not to take one unless it's super clear what the community needs.
A Wikia wiki is owned and managed by its community, not its founder.
However, I see now that you promoted this user less than a month ago, and the two of you are the only members of the wiki with more than 5 edits.... so i think it's fair to say that you're just retracting a recent decision.
In the future, I recommend you only give bureaucrat rights to other users if you absolutely trust them and are committed to working with them for the long-term. Otherwise, Admin rights are enough.
Hi Dopp, I was just wondering how long do applications for the community council take to go through? I may not have made it, but I was just going to say how passionate I am about helping you improve Wikia. I have many bright ideas and am constantly sketching up diagrams of my own on paper of the design of new features and how they would be implemented. I'd even like to send through a folder with some of these, if it were possible.
I feel bad as I may be missing out on giving lots of input that I'd like to put through. Who manages the community council applications?
I also understand the mass bulk of applications you may send out, so not everyone can be considered. Thanks!
Hi Dryuuu, Sarah Manley is the best person to talk to about Community Council. I believe they received more requests than they could allow in at the time, so there might be a longer wait at this point.
Hi Dopp! A while ago, you asked me to help with embedding webfonts into wikis, which I unfortunately could not help with. Now I discovered a MediaWiki extension, Extension:WebFonts, designed to achieve this, so I decided to submit its link for you to check. Cheers!
Thanks, TK! Before I run this by the engineers, how do you expect it will work? Does it create a new special page for managing fonts, or use an existing one? How will users add new fonts to it?
Translatewiki indicates that it creates a new page, Special:WebFonts, for this purpose. Also, if a font is called by font-family, it checks whether it is available and applies it. It seems like though that it was intended primarily for client–side use and internationalization; the documentation states they add any freely licensed font if requested.
Hmm... interesting. The documentation seems a bit vague. Can you tell..
1) Is it built for an admin to control fonts for the wiki, or for a reader to control the fonts they see in their personal view?
2) Are the fonts managed in a central database that the extension pulls from (off-wikia), or would Wikia need to set up a process for managing and adding fonts?
In its current state, it seems that its primary front end is an interface that allows users to select fonts. However, it also checks font-family and applies the named font if available in its database. The database is off-Wikia and any freely licensed fonts can be added to it.
Thanks for researching! I'll get some engineering eyes on it now.
In related news, I talked with of our front-end developers yesterday who's been researching font imports for his own work, and he told me he's been very disappointed with how negatively it impacts pageload time on wikis. I recommend you keep an eye on this in your experiments, and consider it as an important possible drawback. Wikia's already a heavy site to load, and anything that slows it down further might not be worth the benefits.
Yep, currently I do not know of webfonts present on any wiki where I added @font-face, as I removed them when the Firefox incompatibility with non-local loading surfaced. As for performance, the extension refers to this page: http://www.stevesouders.com/blog/2009/10/13/font-face-and-performance/
Hello Dopp, I've been having a problem lately with the new version of Chat. It won't let me type or anything. I could get on it but I can't type. Please help.
Hi, Is this still happening, we did have some issues on particular wikis. Please let me know as well as what wiki its happening on, your browser, and if this is happening on all internet connections (so at home & school) or just particular ones.
Hello Dopp. I was wondering if you could have a reasonable explanation for why I am unable to speak in any chat. I can enter but not speak. It is very irritating and I would really appreciate some help. Thank you in advance.
