  • community.wikia.com/wiki/User:Gilben has been quite rude as of late and has been doing actions such as calling people insults, spamming their message walls, and telling them they have low IQs. Could you please do something about this?

  • Hi there, thanks for your time.

I have no previous experience in contacting an admin about a problematic user, so I hope I am doing this correctly. I thought I would come to you before emailing staff as contacting an admin first was recommended.

Myself and admins on at least three other Wikis have been experiencing problems with a user. Their username is CarverSindile, and the main problems faced when trying to interact or reason with them is a reoccuring disregard for guidelines and policies, for other members of the community, and a certain amount of self entitlement, or inability to accept if they are incorrect or make mistakes. They have refused to change their behaviour, even if it has gone against Wiki guidelines or Manuals of Style, or Community guidelines in general, and have generally been a nuisance on FANDOM since 2016.

I desperately wanted to avoid blocking them, but was struggling as they were not listening to past warnings and never changed their behaviour. I searched their username and found that they had repeated this kind of behaviour on multiple other Wikis, often being disrespectful, rude, and with a tendency to unapologetically break rules and guidelines. They said to me themself once that they had been blocked on another Wiki but seemingly didn't know why and seemed to consider it unfair, although all the blocks I have seen them receive have been for understandable reasons.

The other admins I got in contact with had no advice for me other than to not try to reason with them, as in their experience it got nowhere. They have acted in an almost repetitive way on almost every Wiki they have been active on, constantly repeating things such as that "things that apply to other people do not apply to me" and saying that they're allowed to "do things without reason" because that's just the way they act every day. As they are autistic, myself and another user on a separate Wiki tried to reason with them, hoping we could get through to them as we are also autistic. However, they stated that people who aren't autistic understand them better than those who are, and didn't even seem to try and listen to us once they'd made this decision.

It is disappointing to me that this user has been continually acting this way since 2016 and still in 2019 is refusing to listen to any admins or other members of their communities. They insist on perfoming grammar checks using a grammar extension called Grammarly, which is often incorrect, however they refuse to see that on most occasions and keep re-editing corrected articles, and on one occasion they joined a Wiki that used British English and refused to use British English instead of American English because they didn't know it.

They've been blocked on three Wikis that I am aware of: the one I run, Hitchhikers, the Arrowverse Wiki, and the DC Extended Universe Wiki, as well as causing minor disruptions on the Runescape Wiki.

    Evidence of their actions provided:

    https://runescape.wiki/w/User_talk:CarverSindile  and their response: https://runescape.wiki/w/User_talk:Shockstorm#re:_spelling

Statements from others who have interacted with them:

    https://dcextendeduniverse.wikia.com/wiki/Thread:23369

    https://arrow.fandom.com/wiki/User_talk:Spacepigeon

The thing that has really spurred me to take this to other staff is the fact that since they were blocked and then their access to their talk page revoked (due to them constantly spamming it with messages), they have now made a talk page for me on a Wiki they created and have messaged me on there in an attempt to contact me. I asked them repeatedly to respect my time and boundaries but I'm feeling a bit harassed by the fact that they simply won't leave me alone. They are also doing this to an admin from the Arrowverse Wiki who blocked them:

    https://demon-accords.wikia.com/wiki/Message_Wall:Spacepigeon

    https://demon-accords.wikia.com/wiki/Message_Wall:TimeShade

All the recent Wiki Activity on their 'Demon Accords' Wiki has just been them posting on the walls for myself and this other admin, making Quora questions about our Wikis and sending them to us on the Demon Accords Wiki. It seems as though they are using it mainly as a way to contact admins who have blocked them and who wanted to cut contact with them. A part of me still wonders if this is all a joke to them, if they are trolling or something. The lack of care they have for Wikis and their communities, and for the articles on the Wikis is something I've never seen from a genuine user before, and a lot of their edits have been so random that they've looked more like graffiti than genuine editing.

I really just want this to be over with, and I'm sure the others who they are still trying to contact would like this to end too. They refuse to change any of their behaviour and I just cannot sit here and let them continue to do this on more and more Wikis, disrupting communities for no reason.

Thank you so much for your time, I hope you can help.

  • He is still annoying me and assuming things about stuff he was never involved in.

And he's threatened me with a picture he took of a reply from the ticket he sent to FANDOM. Will you sort this drama out and make him leave me alone, I have not done anything

  • Hi on my blog post can you delete the comment byu the user please?

  • Sorry, I can’t keep this up forever but my problem is getting worse because of the past. I’m getting mad with more users. It didn’t work taking a break from the internet to be less mad at users but now I’m more mad! This is a serious problem and I can never calm down!

    • If you are having problems with your emotions then that is not something you can expect an admin to assist you with, that is a personal issue. Admins are here to assist with Wiki-related issues and problems, I don't know what anyone would be able to do to help you with struggling to calm down. That's something you're going to have to search for advice on, maybe try using a search engine to look up anger management or ways to calm down.

This message is quite vague and just from reading this I have no idea what "problem" you are referencing. If you have already left a message on Noreplyz message wall about this problem, then please keep all responses in that same thread. Scattering them around the message wall will make it more difficult for Noreplyz and anyone else to try and help you as it will be hard to keep up with everything you are saying. Please, in future, keep all posts in one thread so they are easier to find.

  • It seems you guys (the admin team) have missed one. This anon posted this reply on an old thread. Oddly, it isn't showing in the thread's history despite not have been removed/deleted and showing in the user's contributions list.

  • Hello, Noreplyz, I have a question, and it might seem dumb because I'm a huge wiki noob.

    What is the abuse filter?

      Loading editor
    • Hey, it's an extension that can be installed on a wiki, used to prevent bad edits. Admins and other global groups can set rules with AbuseFilter to prevent things like page blanking or flag edits for review.

        Loading editor
    • I looked in my contributions and it's said i've triggered it a few times, I'm sure, so I got weirded out and decided to ask

        Loading editor
    • Yeah - you've triggered it twice for 'New forum posts' - we tag those for review for users making new threads. The main reason is to allow us to review all the new posts on our forums, there's no need to worry about that flag.

    • Oh, thank you. And looking at it, it's from when I was salty that my old account got blocked.
