  Depends, you can start your own wiki. If you are an editor on a very active wiki where the admins are active, you can ask them. If the admins are inactive, you can start a blog about adopting the wiki, and then submit an adoption request if you meet the criteria.

Hi, thank you for helping with the vandalism on http://masterofmagic.wikia.com/wiki/Master_of_Magic_Wiki on May 6th. Since that point I have gained admin rights and hopefully I will be able to take care of any similar situations.
Since I'm new at this, my question is, was there a reason that you only blocked the vandal for two weeks? Is there some criteria I should be aware of for determining how long to block a user? I guess the reason I ask is because I can't see any reason that I would ever want to allow that user back on the wiki, but I also realize that I may not have all the information and can only see what they've done on one wiki.   Hey.
  My default block for an IP address is 2 weeks. This is because, in about 95% of situations - a user won't have the same IP address in 2 weeks.
  Service providers regularly re-assign IP addresses. For people with routers (a good number of people nowerdays) - it takes a week or two before they get a new IP, if someone's connecting to the internet by a modem - they'll get a new IP every time they connect. Some mobile internet providers give a new IP out seemingly every 5 minuites.
  If you block an IP for infinite, then - you risk blocking someone who wants to edit. You also probably don't block the person you're intending to block.
  There are no hard and fast rules about block duration. I normally go for short blocks for IPs, and if usernames are causing a minor irritation. Infinite blocks for usernames that are just vandals are fine.

Hi, I have a problem with IP's

Bloodstar18

On my wiki (http://warriorscatsclanroleplay.wikia.com) there have been several IPs (I think it's just one person that can change their IP) and I was wondering what you recamend I do. I have rollbacked their edits and blocked the IP's, but it keeps happening.
The reason I think it's one person, is because with they list the roleplayer (it's a roleplaying wiki) the IP's put the same name.
Can you help me?

Just wanted to express my appreciation for the hard work and patience that you and the other admins on here go through every day -- I'm taking a look at the activity feed, and the amount of unsavoury behaviour you guys have to put up with and mediate is quite staggering....
Is there an admin appreciation thread around here anywhere? I retired from admining a wiki myself for those reasons above, and I'd like to drop a line of encouragement to you guys running this place, having a very faint idea of how patient you have to be :)

Edit to GameGuides template

JoePlay

I saw that you made an edit, but I was seeing a blank space where SITENAME should be. Maybe that's due to cache.
Anyway, for the time being, I edited the template to not try to include the local wiki's name, just so that we're 100% sure that it works correctly on any wiki.
If you've figured out a workaround, feel free to create a test template, and once cache resolves and it's working correctly as originally intended, let me know.

hey , man, you seem to know a lot about wiki stuffs, you've been a great help, i just tried and delete everything in the category, but i can't seem to delete the subcategories, after deleting the category page, the lower part is still showing the subcategories?
