There are two different types of footers: those that are community-made and maintained, and those that are FANDOM-made and maintained.
Anyone can make an interwiki footer for a subject of their choice, provided it doesn't appear to be FANDOM-created or maintained, i.e. using FANDOM-created logos and images and/or linking to the official footer program. The other thing to consider is avoiding creating duplicate footers that are already established, whether community- or FANDOM-made.
To have a footer created that is part of the FANDOM footer program (Television, Gaming, Literature, or Music), users can submit the idea to that particular program and suggest sites to be reviewed for inclusion. Once 10 sites are approved, the footer will be created and launched.
Hi, I'm Anzu, a moderator of the Roblox Wikia. This is a post on behalf of Acebatonfan with her written content below because for some odd reason she's unable to post to your wall at the moment:
Hi! I noticed that you recently changed the Roblox Wikia's wordmark and renamed the wiki from Roblox Wikia to Roblox Wiki on Project:Home. Some of the other administrators/moderators and I are confused as to why this was done. There's an official Roblox Wiki project hosted outside of the Wikia, and it was imperitive that we have our name as Roblox Wikia to differentiate ourselves from the official wiki. I'm wondering if you could rename the wiki back to Roblox Wikia along with reversion of the changes, or tell us your rationale for the change. Thanks!
Within the past year sites have been officially rebranded from "wikias" to "wikis" (a reversal from before) and so we're going through and making those changes so communities don't have to.
That being said, if there's a need for a community to retain that branding - such as having already set up social media accounts with "wikia" in the name - then they are free to revert those changes if they so desire ;)
Hi! Just jumping in (hopefully I'm able to post this time!). I'm looking though some of the other admins' contributions, and I don't see any of them requesting a name change. I'm not sure if Wikia's name policies have changed (I don't check community central often).
The short-version history is that the company encouraged sites to change their names to "wikias" a while ago in the hopes it would impact SEO in a positive way for everyone. That didn't pan out, so that decision was reversed ;)
Again, you all seem to have a compelling reason to not switch over, so feel free to revert.
I'm not sure what you mean by the name. Are you referring to the title in the header? That's done in Theme Designer in the Wordmark tab; but if you're changing the wordmark back anyway, just go back to the previous version of the theme, as it'll change both.
Edit: so if you're reverting, there's only two things that need to be done. Revert the Theme Designer change, and revert the change made to the main page. I haven't touched anything else ;)
Hello, if your reading this. There is a bit of dispute over what year Far Cry 1 took place. Either in the year 2004 or 2025 in the Timeline. The first person to change it to 2025 was a fandom user. However, a logged in user changed it back to 2004 because there is no proof in game that the game takes place in 2025. However, another logged-in user claims that he has proof that FC1 takes place in 2025 by stating, "On the license disk of 2004 it is written that the action time is 2025." I'm telling you this because this reason didn't seem to add up. I checked other sources and not once did they mention the year is 2025. I asked the staff of the Far Cry Wiki but I received no response.(User:MegasXLOHYEAH)(Talk) 1:06 PM 1/6/2018
I did send this too but it was never replied to by the person I really needed to talk to. Apparently he's too busy irl to really answer me, therefore I have no idea who else I can talk to on Injustice Wiki about my situation.
I know I didn't sound too good talking to Reborn but we both know that he wasn't exactly a fair person, especially the way he went out on the Injustice Wiki with his vandalism spree. Riley is too busy, Reborn is no longer capable as a staff member, and Daryl is the one that got me into this problem in the first place because of his vendetta with me, which hopefully hasn't been active for a long while, especially since he retired from his staff membership on several Wikis including Injustice.
I can be sure because I have seen many situations like this before, and know that sometimes you can't get a "said to face" answer. Sometimes people don't want to say "no" directly, so they say it by not answering at all.
I honestly am very disappointed that you feel this way. My punishment is very unfair too and there isn't even a staff on Injustice Wiki to compromise with. How the heck do you expect us to handle this on our own when they don't even care about the Wiki anymore?
The solution is likely to simply move on. In time you may become more suitable for the Wiki & the admins may reconsider if you show growth, or perhaps new admins will come into place who are more lenient, but for the time being you cannot be on that Wikia anymore until one of the local admins lifts your ban.
I don't think you understand the situation well enough. Riley is barely even on here anymore and Daryl, even if he still had his staff rights, absolutely hates me with a passion. He's been against me since the first day I met him, even before I even touched Injustice Wiki.
I looked at your contributions. Im not seeing a decent nor much valid reason for the block. Despite this, admins can block people for any reason and Staff won't do anything about it. However, your comment left on a message wall is not helpful. ( I have to agree, it isn't really trolling or sorts) but still, edit warring like that isn't acceptable (on both sides).
Follow Ursuul's advice and show growth and willingness to add more informaton (content) to pages instead of just a stub template.
But I was in the right, those pages needed plenty more information. I was actually going to add more as soon as I got back on but Riley kind of went back on his word and didn't get back to me about unblocking me after I read some more comics.
You might need to rethink your rules for that one. Game wiki's in the genre do not get all that many hits to begin with. So pretty much you are lucky to have them at all. Also Darius Wiki has been active the last few months thanks to Magma Dragoon.
All the footers have to adhere to the same guidelines. It might be worth looking into either merging all those sites into the main shoot 'em up site; either that, or consider placing them in another footer entirely.
Hey Raylan, .io games have become a popular MMO subgenre after the initial release of Agar.io a couple years ago. There’s a bunch out there, many with sizable Wikis, & I think you could fill out an entire Gaming Footer with them. Here’s five qualified Wikis as a baseline:
I bet you could find more yourself, those were just those I’ve personally come into contact with. Does that sound like something worthy of a new footer, or something that should be looped into MMO Games?EDIT: Are there non-English Footers as well? If not, would non-English Wikis be able to join a Footer with the rest, provided they met the qualifications?
For now, I would say to submit them to the main genre they're most closely linked to.
As for non-English, unfortunately the footers are only for the English side of things. You could try reaching out to staff on the Community Central in the desired language, provided there is one. It's a simple matter of scrolling to the bottom of the main page here and selecting the language.
At what point do you think they may merit their own footer, if ever? Are there any restrictions on copying the style of the usual footers, & creating our own with the same standards used by Encyclopedia Gamia (minus the Encyclopedia Gamia stamp in the bottom right of the footer)? Could such a private footer become ‘official’ if enough Wikis joined?
The issue is that they're not a genre per se, but rather games belonging to a particular url; but if you wanted, you could create an io section on the gaming footers page (without a footer, obviously) and list sites that could be vetted. Typically if a footer can contain at least 5 sites that meet the minimum criteria for footer inclusion (and the admins agree to be included), then the footer will be created and launched.
So feel free to give it a shot and we'll see what happens ;) Sites are vetted every Friday.
I would contest that, since .io games do share a particular style of a browser MMO wherein users control a given entity & compete with other players in an open, petri-dish free-for-all area with a usually defined, square boundary. They just happen to share the same URL, & so they are referred by that.
Nevertheless, I do appreciate your advice & will do just that as soon as Moomoo.io has the wordmark to meet the minimum criteria, since those Wikis are largely agreeable to such a thing & meet the criteria as far as I know. Thanks!
Hey there - sorry it took so long, one of the Wikias had to deliberate longer than we anticipated.
The Wikias are up for review now like you told me to do. I know you do review on Fridays, but I wanted to show you these twothreads to save you some legwork getting permission from each Wikia; both threads contain consent from administrators from each of the five Wikias. Additionally, if Diep.io needs to leave its current footer in order to join .io Games that’s fine, although preferably we would like to have both. Moomoo.io/Mope.io are also currently developing their main pages, so please take that into account when reviewing even though they aren’t the prettiest in the world; they get the job done, though.
Do you expect they could be reviewed & have a Footer launched for them before Christmas, or after?
I have a couple artists on my home Wikia, I will ask them if they can’t make something really nice for the footer ;) If not, then hopefully you can find one that is appropriate. Whatever you do, I suggest including Agar.io, since it basically kicked off the genre.
Hey there Raylan, this is the draft our artists came up with:
It incorporates the two most popular .io games in a true-to-gameplay formation (for Agar.io anyway) & it has the cursor which is vital to just about every .io game in existence as Browser MMOs, with few exceptions. If it’s good, feel free to use it, but if you had your own image in mind I’d love to see it :)
Could you please add Dynasty Wiki (dynastytv) to your Template:CWikis template? I applied on TV Footers but nobody's responded to it. It's a brand new wiki for a show that just started airing on The CW with a steadily growing amount of views and already 40 well-written articles.
