Hey :) Can you please do me and the XFiles wiki a huge favor? Can you please add the Infobox Xfiles templates to season 2-9 as well as just 1 because none of us know how to do the drop down and stuff. I would really appreciate it. Thanks.
Hey, I've been having problems with chat for a while now, largely with messages being posted but not seen by me. It can either be that messages that I send do not appear in the chat window for me, or messages others send do not appear. Kind of a pain when trying to follow a line of conversation.
I thought it might be some sort of connection issue, but I believe the problems started around the time XHR-polling was introduced? It seems to be a subtle j/q that doesn't show up in chat.
Hey there, Can you let us know where you are located, your browser info, what wiki and if you now around the date when this started hapened. Also, can you test out this link: http://community.wikia.com/wiki/Special:Chat?nosockets=1 and let us know if it works with this.
I'm UK based, South Wales specifically and using Chrome. I have only really found this on RuneScape's chat, although I rarely enter other wikis chats.
As for when it began, I found a message I left on a user talk page asking whether css or js might be causing my issues dated 9th September. I think it may have been as much as a month prior to that, which was (very roughly) around the time the wiki's MediaWiki version was updated.
?nosockets=1 appears to be working at the moment in runescape's chat (I didn't want to spam up central chat to test it). The only message I have noticeably missed is a cmod demotion for my alternate account I was using to test something unrelated, although later a message to announce the same thing did not appear for anyone, so perhaps it is unrelated to my problems. Luckily we have a chat logging bot, so I shall double check the logs against my chat to make sure of this.
I cannot connect to any chat from any computer - all I'm told is that the browser is attempting to connect to chat2-1.wikia.com or chat2-2.wikia.com after which it will eventually time out.
It's not my account either since the same problem happens on my bot account.
Did that, even tried connecting over 3G with a different service provider and the probelm is still there. And on all of my computers too.
EDIT - When I do connect to chat, the connection lasts for a few minutes then the browser will show "Connecting to chat2-2-.wikia.com", and yep I will be thrown out of the chat.
Hey, Tomek - any chance you could add the "close thread" button to message wall on Monobook? Also, a history link on thread pages (as ?action=history exists) would be nice. Thanks
I've had an idea. Maybe you could try to experience my problems first hand by logging into my account and trying to use chat. I'm not sure if it would be the same because our locations are probably different, but it could help! As a member of staff, I'm not sure if you would be able to access my acount without me telling you my password!
